Niels Fredrik (Fred) Jensen

I was honored to be elected as student body president for 1973-74, and have many wonderful memories of so many of our over 800 classmates, and over 2,300 in the student body of Olympus High School that year--one of the largest and best in the state.

I met and started to date Martha Owens in 9th grade at Olympus Junior High School--the love of my life, and so central to the happy life I've enjoyed. . . We married after I graduated from medical school in 1982, and we have three daughters and two grandchildren.

We've lived most of our married life in Iowa where I was an Associate Professor in Anesthesiology before starting a business teaching anesthesiologists how to prepare for our Board examination at over 600 live courses for over 30,000 anesthesiologists-- taught under the auspices of our business, Dr. Jensen Board PREP. I wrote and sold 20 self-published books, along with audio and video recordings.

Professionally, I never found anything as satisfying as helping bright, highly motivated people achieve one of their highest professional goals--Board certification in anesthesiology.

I very much look forward to seeing and catching up with you at our 50th!

It's been said that, "Episodes in life that last so many years in memory are often measured by fleeting moments as they happen."

There were and have continued to be sad times for some--those who ran into bad luck and bad times, who have faced adversity, major health problems, and even in some cases have passed away; in many cases these were the best and brightest, and may we always remember and honor them.

There were also many happy moments: hours and hundreds of hours being taught by so many fine teachers, competing athletically and watching classmates compete, so many memorable dances and activities which our classmates planned so meticulously and well, serving in the student senate and eventually as student body president, being admitted to Harvard University and carrying what I learned beyond Olympus, falling in love with Martha Owens, and holding on tightly to that love to this day. . .
