Some of you may know that Kip has been battling pancreatic cancer for about 4 years now. And he has done it in pure Kip Rhodes style.
Several months ago, he realized the end was in sight (or as he put it his expiration date was coming up) and rather than spend whatever time was left reeling from the effects of chemo which (although he tried to downplay them), were brutal and over time became much more so, he made the decision to end all but palliative treatment.
Yesterday, August 1, 2026 at 4 am (west coast time), Kip died.
He’s leaving a huge hole in his family’s heart and more than likely in many other hearts as well. Rest easy, good friend, you are missed.

My condolences to Family and Friends. To have battled Pancreatic Cancer for 4 years is admirable and remarkable. The choice of Palliative Care and likely Hospice is also appropriate.

Kip was a good friend in high school. He was funny, caring and at times, borderline raunchy. His cars were always interesting – a black bug which was soon replaced by a Pontiac Tempest (?) which – as Kip described – had half a V8. He liked to show that side of the engine as if it were a GTO.
I didn’t see much of Kip after high school, but when I did he was the type of character that time didn’t matter – he always had the same warmth, smile and insight I remembered – will miss him.
