I have become very involved in training retrievers for hunting competitions called Field Trials. We live and train on 21 acres in the Sierra Foothills near Grass Valley. In the summers we have a log cabin in a tiny town in Montana where the dog training is fantastic, we also spend part of the winter in Texas training and competing.

This past year our schedule has changed somewhat-due to an April 2008 diagnosis of a very rare form of Leukemia (14 people in the world-rare). My husband rented an apartment in Sacramento to be near the hospital where I had a stem cell transplant. We were there for nine months. Was released to come home on my birthday January 9th -Life has been good, I am doing great so far.

My husband and son have been wonderful and it is fantastic to be back home running the dogs.

Just to make this clear, I don't train other people's dogs, just my own.

Hopefully we will get up to Montana this summer when the Drs. feel that I will be safe.

Update---October 2009

We had a wonderful summer, most of it spent in Montana. We ran several competitions and did quite well. Traveled all over, MT,ID.WA, OR and CA. Lots of miles on the truck.

Great news so far on the health front, no more treatments and hospitals for now. All looks pretty good and the Drs. are thrilled. So are we!!!!!!!!

We were able to have a great time in our cabin with friends, family and of course the dogs.

Off to Northern Florida in late November/early December for more Trials. Then off to Texas for the month of January to get ready for the 2010 season.

Health is great. Doctors are amazed. I don't even have to see them until after the reunion.

We are in Montana, enjoying life every single day.
