Although, as a "southern Fitz" we only came to Grandma and Grandpa's house once or twice a year, there were so many special memories.
I am not an eloquent writer, like my father and twin, but instead, write in fragments and lists, as a doctor should. Sooooooo, here are a few lovely memories:
- Fruit loops under the pillow, even after we brushed our teeth (yes my mom was cringing inside)
- The Big Loader track and construction vehicles with those black balls that would change the cars by slipping under the ones balancing. By the way, I have tried to find that for my boys, no longer made by Tomy, and can start as high as $150 on ebay for used old school ones!
- Weevils in the old cereal
- The laundry chute and hide and seek
- The smell of the upstairs bathroom
- Wearing Grandma's high heels (Michael included!!!) and trying on her costume jewelry
- See's candy (only one piece and praying it did not have nuts, ESPECIALLY walnuts)
- Family portraits with Uncle Tim directing
- The smell of jasmine
- Little Bunny Foo Foo and that piano in the playhouse.
- That HUGE martini glass
- That HUGE lock in Grandpa's office
- Picking out 1-2 mums to take home with us each Thanksgiving
- The hammock in the backyard and playing there, thinking how HUGE it was.
- Seeing Uncle TIm and my Dad hang Christmas lights with Grandpa and seeing Michael get old enough to start helping
- Cousin fun, and wishing we could live as close to Grandma and Grandpa as they did.
- Colleen and Tisha's longass hair and when they were FINALLY aloud to cut it.
- Brian's patch for his amblyopia (which of course I had no idea what that was then!)
- Much much more, but I have to put my boys to bed!
Love you all!
