Went to San Jose State after graduation as a graphic design major. Loved the whole college thing. Was on judo and gymnastics teams.. wasn't the best but learned a lot! Went to Art Center College of Design in LA after graduating from SJSU. Worked in ad agencies as art director. Later opened own design studio. Drew and painted a fair amount all along. Got to travel a lot in the South Pacific with then girlfriend in the Peace Corps - backpacking around NZ, Fiji, etc. Feel blessed to have had the experience. Taught at SJSU, DeAnza, Foothill, and Acad of Art College for 35 years. Now can't get enough of painting watercolors. Show in a Laguna Beach gallery on an ongoing basis. Met my wife, Hidemi, from Okayama, Japan, at Acad of Art College. She was a student of mine (It's OK if you marry them!). Have been to Japan 4-5 times and always love it. Got into martial arts late in life when my son was taking lessons. Desite some injuries it's been a wonderful experience. No plans to ever retire in the normal sense... will paint & teach till they yank my boots off of me!! Have recently moved to La Honda and love it high in the mountains above the Palo Alto area. Sorry to say Hidemi and I didn't work! Life goes on. We go forward to the next phase of our lives. Ladyfriend Jackie has moved back with her ex-husband, who is quite ill. I show watercolors in a Laguna Beach Gallery and another venue (Made in Pescadero {custom furniture store, also in Pescadero]). Have been recently interviewed and video-taped for an Australian TV show called "Colour in Your Life" with Graeme Stevenson. It's online at: u-tube, William Dunn, www.colourinyourlife.com. It's to be aired in Australia, New Zealand, U.S., Canada, Spain, India, and other countries in Europe. I feel so honored and blessed to be selected for it! Hopefully if will help my star to rise a bit after all these years of painting.
Looking forward too getting back into teaching at San Mateo College.
