Graduated Flagler College with BA in Elementary Education and Deaf Education. Graduated USF with MA in Special Education. Began as an educational interpreter for the deaf at RHS. Have been educating Deaf students in Sarasota county for 25 years. Specializing in deaf students with multiple disabilities (ie. InD., Autism, behaviors). Taught several summers in Japan at Deaf residential schools on a bio-diversity project. I also trained as Iaido (samuri sword) for 5 years, reaching the level of brown belt. I have been Teacher of the Year for Oak Park ( current school and placement for the past 21 years). I was Teacher of the Year in Deaf Education for the State of Florida. I served on the Board of Directors for the State wide Deaf Education Teacher's Organization (FEHI). I taught in the evenings at USF in the foreign language department doing ASL 1 and 2 for undergraduate certification for 7 years. I am currently in the process of developing and publishing a curriculum for Deaf/ Autistic students and will publish the educational series in August. Mike and I have remained HS sweethearts and were married in 1984. We still live in Sarasota. We love to hike, cruise and travel around the US and abroad. We have one son who is also employed in the school system in the facilities department.
