I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1983, and was married the following month. We lived in Charleston South Carolina until 1986 while my husband, David, attended medical school. We moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1986 while David was in residency and I was a stay-at-home mom.
In 1989, we moved to Summerville, South Carolina, our current home. I helped David get his Family Practice started in 1989 and have worked in the office ever since.
We have raised four great kids: Holly, our oldest, is 24, and works in the office with us. She is already a leader in our church, and she enjoys writing and researching. She is working on a novel, and is very active in our local Christian fiction writers' group. Amy is 23 and is engaged to be married next April. She works full-time, but hopes to go back to college to complete her degree in vocal and instrumental music. Bethany is 20, works part-time for the school district's after school program, and plans to attend the local technical college in the fall while she decides what career path she wants to pursue. Ryan, our "baby", just turned 19 and will be a high school senior this year. He plays clarinet in the school marching band, sings in the school chorus and church choir, and has acted and sung in several school and church plays and musicals.
Our entire family is actively involved in our local church. This is my 12th year as Vacation Bible School Director. I also lead our Junior Choir, sing in the Adult Choir, and have served in youth and Sunday School ministries in the past. My husband is an ordained deacon, is currently serving as music minister, and fills in as an adult Sunday School teacher and speaker on occasion.
In my limited spare time, I try to go to the gym regularly and still love to play tennis, though I rarely have the opportunity. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
