Sounds good to me.. Too bad we can't have entertainment though... then again, not being able to make a fool of myself could be a good thing LOL!!

I was also thinking about music...If no bands are allowed, perhaps we could compile a CD or bring an ipod with greatest hits from early 90's. We could check with Top O' about that possibility. What do you guys think?

I know Carl emailed after he talked to the restaurant - a band wouldn't be possible because it might disturb the adjoining rooms. I don't know about music though - that might warrant another call to the restaurant to see if we can - I'll see if Wesley can do that. :)

Hey Jen and everyone else whose done the work to make this happen. I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful job you're doing and to tell you how much I appreciate it. It gives me a warm feeling seeing everyone's name and to see us communicating again after all this time. I moved half way across the country within a week of our graduation and I'm very excited to see everyone.

Thanks, Brian!

I agree Jennifer. You have done a great job with this. I am so glad you took on the task of getting together a reunion for us. This is an awesome website, too! I'm so glad to see and be in touch with everyone again. Can't wait for the reunion!

Thank you, but I can't take all the credit. Wesley Watwood really got the ball rolling on the reunion and Carrie and Wade Handley are collecting the money. We've had a LOT of people rounding up addresses for the invitations - I can't say enough about word of mouth - it's awesome!

I'll toss my kudos into the ring... I've been hoping for this since I moved back in 2005.
Also I'm not in a position to help financially, but I again offer any other help you guys need(except for Tuesdays... I have Lodge meetings on Tuesdays). I'm Local here in Boaz and have early work hours... so abuse me if you will LOL!!

This is great. Especially compared to an email that the guy organizing my wife's 10 year reunion got. It is long and I apologize for that. But it is so funny I had to post it if for no other reason than to serve as an example of how not to first greet your classmates after a lengthy time apart. So, think of it as a Public Service Announcement...

John,

I have recently been informed that you are in charge of the Class of 1998 reunion. I only heard about it from someone asking my mother if I was attending. So I was wondering why I have to seek you out, to find out about the reunion. Is it not your responsibility to find out were everyone is to tell them about the reunion? How did you expect everyone in the class to find out about the reunion? You could have at least posted it on zillion different internet sites that pertain to reunions or old classmates.... There are some people that do not live in Decatur anymore. Some of us actually didn’t stay in Decatur to marry our high school sweetheart and have 2.4 kids. I travel about 75% of the year in the United States and Europe. So some of us need more than a few weeks notice. You think that you are special because you are the VP of a Bank in Decatur, Alabama.

So what exactly are the plans for the reunion?

AND NOW FOR THE RESPONSE...

Jennifer-

I have copied everyone on our reunion email list onto this email so that everyone will have the pleasure of sharing you pleasant correspondence during this joyful time of our ten year reunion. It is emails like these that make it so rewarding to help with the planning of our reunion. I hope that I am not interrupting your busy schedule especially someone that is so insignificant as me. Attached are all of the names that we have compiled over the last 6 months and are still trying to get everyone's name, such as yours. So look through the names on this email and see if you have been in contact with them and you can also brighten their day as much as you have mine.

Also I would like to address the question that you have brought to my attention:

- I am not sure why you had to seek me out and I wish that you hadn't because we have been using all the means necessary to find out people new addresses and email addresses. A question that I might ask you is, do you keep in touch with anyone on this list? Or are we too insignificant?

- Yes it is partially my responsibility to let everyone know about the reunion however Matt Dukes (Dukes I know that I am throwing you under the bus but bare with me), our President, is really taking care distributing information on the when and where. And I might add that he has done a very good job up until this point.

- As for the statement about the internet....WE HAVE PUT INFORMATION ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEBSITES INCLUDING A BLOG. The websites are listed below. Thanks to Allison Sandlin.

- The statement about the living in Decatur, having two kids, and being a VP of a Bank was completely uncalled for and I don't really care what you think about me or my life. However, if you think that marrying someone that I love more that anything in this world and having two of the most beautiful girls every is a bad thing then I am sorry but we have a difference of opinion. Also, if you want to beat me up that is one thing but you leave my family out of it!!! I hope that you find the same happiness because from the anger and frustration that is displayed in the below email it really looks like you need some happiness in your life.

-One last thing, I am not a "VP" just yet I am still stuck on the "AVP" status. I will be sure to let you know when I get my next promotion.

I have plant more that I would like to say but I am pretty sure that the filter on my email would pick it up.

Can't wait to see you at the reunion... more information to follow.

Sincerely,

John, the AVP, 2.4

NOW EVEN I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO MY WIFE'S REUNION.

Oh, my! Now I hope that none of the 22 missing classmates send me an ugly letter - LOL! Or the 6 for which the invitations came back to me..... :)

That is a really funny letter and response - I'd been dreading gathering the addresses since Wesley called me last July about a reunion. However, it was May before we actually got started, so I think we're doing good to get 62 out of 84 addresses!

Thank you, everyone who sent me one address - and for those who sent 3 or 4, bless you!!!

Oh, Carl - I emailed Stephen Swann, but haven't gotten a response.....

Hey Jen, I talked to Swann not to long ago and he didn't sound like he would go. He is very hard to get ahold of so don't get your feelings hurt if he doesn't contact you. I'll keep working on him though.

Carl, can you video the arrival of that Jennifer at your wife's class reunion? ha-ha. That sounds hilarious to witness. I would say, someone from Decatur has lost their "Southern Charm"!!! Thanks for the laugh!

I can't wait. It is literally the only reason I want to go to my wife's reunion. Hope I get to see you in August!

Jennifer, somewhere you asked about teachers. I'm indifferent, some I would like to see again, some, eh... If you guys think the space is there I would say go for it if that is the group's pleasure. It may just be that much more trouble to find them.

Susan Bryant (Warner)

Jennifer - I'll be sending you some great pics soon. I plan to go through my old pics this weekend. That should be fun :-)

07/11/08 04:31 PM #28

Daniel Krueger

Oh man that was priceless!!! Some people just have a "skewed" sense of what really matters in this world.

It's interesting the differences... My best friend in Tuscaloosa graduated a year after me at the same high school I would've if I hadn't moved to Sardis. He and his wife(same class) have absolutly no desire to go to their reunions. I consider myself lucky to have gone to a school where we at least would like to see each other again.

Just food for thought.

Susan, I can't wait to get the pictures! I haven't gotten many yet, so send me as many as you can.

I agree with you Daniel . . .I think EVERYONE is excited to get back together for a reunion! This website has been great; and I must admit, I think I am getting somewhat addicted to this website. It seems like I check the updates just as much as my emails!!!! (Am I alone?)

07/11/08 11:24 PM #31

Carrie Johnson (Handley)

Jennifer I found a stack of some old pics that somebody gave me maybe the year after we graduated. I think it might have been some leftovers from yearbook staff b/c it is alot of sports pics, awards programs, blood drives, etc. I will see if there are any in there that you might could use for the slide show. It may be easier for me to meet up with you somewhere and let you scan these pics than me try to email them. We will figure it out next week.

07/11/08 11:47 PM #32

Carrie Johnson (Handley)

Susan...I liked your idea about the music. If we can't have live music that would be a good idea. Has anybody called Top O' to see if that would be a problem?

07/12/08 09:06 PM #33

Jennifer Smith (Oliver)

Sure, Carrie - meeting somewhere next week sounds great - I can scan them at home and give them back to you.

Miranda, addicted to this site isn't even the word for it!! LOL! I'm in Myrtle Beach on vacation right now and I'm still checking in every night - now that's addicted. :)

Hey guys! Yesterday was the first time I had looked at the website and I love it! Thanks to everyone who worked to get this reunion together. I can't wait to see ya'll.

I'm pretty sick of you people that look exactly the way you did 15 years ago. If I'm the only one that has put on 50 pounds I'm going to be pretty angry. :)

07/13/08 02:55 AM #36

Brian Carnes

yeah, 200+ right here Carl. We've still got a month. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about it and I bet there will be a few trips to the tanning bed made.

07/13/08 08:59 AM #37

Jennifer Smith (Oliver)

Oh, Carl, don't feel bad - I've never been one to agonize over my looks, but I must admit, I've been pretty ashamed of myself - I put on 50 pounds right after graduation (marriage sometimes does that to a person) and here I am, 15 years later and still carrying it around. LOL!
