Grant Sims

Final plans are being made for the golf outings. I am setting up T-times for Friday around 2ish, Saturday around 8ish and Sunday around 9ish. I need to know what day(s) you want to play. Even if you have already confirmed playing please let me know what time(s) is/are best for you. Seeing how the weekend of the reunion is Fathers Day weekend, some of you will most likely have your kids with you. I want to stress that this golf outing is open to any and everyone. My mini-me will play one of the days. Please let me know soon so that I can call and get the times on the book. I am sure that times will go fast seeing that its Fathers Day weekend.

Since the last time I posted this list, I got to remove some names!! Thanks for joining and welcome Arria, Sherri, Laura, Wendy, Lawanda, Valerie, Carlton, Shawn, Chris S, Apu, Mark, Kemp, Chuck, Brian, and Scott!

The following list is a compilation of all the sleuths' (Valerie, Angie, Shari, Jenifer, Joey, Candas, Tony, Lisa, Theresa, Jon, Stacy, Chris, et. al.) work which I have consolidated for ease of use. NOTE: I am not responsible for "finding" all of these people myself....it has been very much a TEAM EFFORT!

So, without futher ado, here's an update to help with our searches:

After culling thru the forum and also emails I've received, I've compiled this list of people whom WE have contacted about the site but who have NOT YET posted a profile.

Although I'm sorry that not all our "finds" are participating on the site yet, GOOD WORK, guys! This certainly takes a dent out of the number of people left to find.

(George) Trey Bailey
Angela Barton-Mixon
Fred Baughn
(George) Frank Bazemore
Warren Brown
John Burks (if he's the J. Burks on classmates.com)
Ashley Carney
Carol Causey (Corbett)
Robert Deen (?)
Stacy Dyches (Tabakian)
Creswell Formey
Anglea Freeman
Kelvin Jackson
Kevin Jackson
(Virginia) Lynn Johnson
Winfield Johnston
Paul Jung
Kelby Kessler
Stephanie Kreger (Crosby)

Robert Mack (now Halifu Tarakibu)
Cathy Malcolm (Campbell)
Shyam Mirchandani
Brian Moore
Becky Rhodes (Brinson)
Wendy Roddenberry
Dorothy Sanders (now Haseleria Hall)
Vic Shoup
Nikki Simpson
Kim Winiger

**********************************************************
Here is a list of people for whom I have found some info but not yet made a positive contact:

Hey guys! I've posted a few new pics of John, Kelby, Mark, Frankie and I on my profile for anyone interested.

I see some have already seen them. I'm now taking open bids to the highest bidder, Grant. Going once....

Jenifer Johnson (Paul)

John has nothing to complain about compared to Mark's picture! :)

Hey... what are old friends for anyway? Besides that's not half as bad as what Mark was put through at Largo. Isn't that right "Pear". Love ya man!lol

Michael Dusty Grove

Those pics are great!! From Mark's jazzy mullet all the way to the bod.

You know what's bad, until last week I never thought we had mullets. Jeanette said something to a friend of ours about me having a mullet and I was standing there thinking "What the hell!!!!?" Looking at the pics....this is painful to say.....she's right.

Hey Guys!
I've got some bad news. Looks like Tommy & I can't make the reunion after all. I'll be recovering from some surgery during the same time. I'm sorry to miss it. I've really enjoyed catching up with everyone. If I can be of any help to you locals with real estate appraisals be sure and let me know!

Richard Alan Garren

Yeah Bobby, I know what you mean. Just last week Adam asked me if I had a mullet and I said I'd never really thought about it, but I guess I did. Wow! And who would have thought that the guys would be having a discussion about their hair?? Well, I don't have to worry about that now. My 4 year old niece asked me what happened to my hair and when I said I'd lost it, she said, "C'mon, I'll help you find it!" Sooo, I took her hand and as we searched through the house, I asked, "what are we going to do if we find it?". She said she had some glue at her house. Kids are so honest and just want to help!
Later,
Alan

I am gearing up for our trip to Savannah for the reunion. I decided to create a roadtrip playlist. Instead of keeping all of tunes myself, I created a shareable playlist. I've highlighted a few of the most memorable below, but you can find the complete list at http://www.fiql.com/playlists/windsor_forest_class_of_1988_soundtrack

(You Gotta) Fight for your Right (To Party) - Beastie Boys
Ashley Johnson, Alan, Jeremy, Steve Colson, Carter Napier were all screaming this song as we skipped school and went Hilton Head. As I sit in my work cubilcle I thing of the terrible explanation I gave to my Mom about how I got a sun burn.

You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
Sarah and I driving back from River Street. Totally lit. Carefree!

Hungry Like a Wolf - Duran Duran
Jennifer Johnson was not the only Duran Duran freak. I streaked my hair the summer of 1984 in honor of the hottest band at the time.

Jukebox Hero - Foreigner
Crusing Tybee with Carlton Ulmer

Synchroncity II - Police
I actual claimed the song as my own for a English project with Mrs Abernathy. I had to recite the song in front of the class.

It's Tricky - Run DMC
Myk Creek jamming this out at our party at the Windsor Forest Country Club. How did we not get arrested with 200 something underage drinkers.

Stage Fright - Def Leppard
Opening song for the Hysteria tour. Mike McCarthy called it out before the concert.

Black Dog - Led Zepplin
Another non-1980s song, but we invented the Boat Dance with Jeremy Steinke, Myk Creek, and I sailing to this tune down the Forest River.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Alan: It's okay I still deny I had a mullet even with the senior picture as evidence. It's more of a surfer cut than a redneck mullet anyways

05/29/08 06:39 AM #217

Richard Alan Garren

Oh yeah... I forgot... we were "surfers". That's good stuff Bill. Remember when my friend's dad was going to shave my football # 99 in the back of head and ended up shaving " ee ". I had to use two mirrors just to see it for myself and got so confused with the whole reversal image thing. Anyway, those were fun times.

Ashley Johnson

Great list Bill! If anyone from our class could put together a music list from that time, it would be you! I remember riding in the back of your Mustang and having to sit next to your sub-woofer box that took up 90% of the backseat! No wonder I'm going deaf now! LOL!

05/29/08 09:41 AM #219

Ashley Johnson

Well gang, it looks like we have two weeks from tomorrow. I don't think I will make my goal of losing 30 lbs in time for the reunion! It does make it especially hard when you don't exercise, eat right, or even try bulemia! LOL! Oh well, at least I still have my hair! (Not a personal jab at anyone who may be "Follicly challenged"!)
Can't wait to see all of you!

05/29/08 07:39 PM #220

Bill Christian

@Ashley: I remember our car races around town. The Mustang took the off road by White Bluff Baptist and made the 4 car pass to score the win. A death defying Speed Racer finish.

Ashley, I thought we were to gain weight!! I guess I messed up again. Now about the hair issue... its not our fault that some of us out grew our hair!

06/03/08 01:47 PM #222

Ashley Johnson

Ok, those of you who remember me from high school should know by now that I am a horrendous procrastinator. One of these days I'm gonna get some help for that!
Anyway, Alan just called me to let me know that the date to pay through PayPal expired 2 days ago. Needless to say, I have yet to pay, although I fully intended to. Since Alan would be the Hillary to my Obama, (Sorry Alan, I chose the metaphor, so I get to be the man!) in the race for President of the Procrastinator's Club of America, that we have great plans to start one day in the very near future, he has also managed to miss the deadline.
What I need to know, is there any way to still pay through PayPal, or can we pay the weekend of the reunion, if not? I fully intend on being in Savannah, and would love to attend. Don't make me plan my own reunion festivities! I can reserve the BK lounge in an instant, and being the hundred-aire that I am, I will spare no expense! For only $5.95 ($10.95 if you bring a guest) you can have your choice of 5 items off the Value Menu, and free refills! I don't want to have a reunion battle, but if you force my hand, I will!
So please, can someone post some information on a make-up payment, or some extra credit opportunities?

Thanks!

06/03/08 05:11 PM #223

Grant Sims

I just paid today and it went ok. Thanks for the credit card # Alan.

Are there any dress reqs for the main event? Cheezy tuxes and some of those wonderful prom dresses from 1988? Who's bringing the magnum of cheap bubbly and the fuzzy navels?!!

06/04/08 04:23 PM #225

Richard Alan Garren

Here's a copy an email that Natalie replied to some questions I had asked:

Hi Alan,

Any event is a REASON to go shopping...Wife Rules 101 :) I will post information. Friday evening is very casual more of a meet/greet finger food, so you may want to make dinner plans. Saturday is a picnic at a pavilion on Tybee Island. We are not on the beach but walking distance. And Saturday evening will be, after five attire. You can be as dressy as you like, but not required to be formal. We will be in and outside that evening. Heavy hors d' oeuvrers will be served, so no dinner arrangements needed.

Hi everyone. I am looking forwards to seeing all of you next week. Grant, I will definitely be able to play on Friday and Saturday. I fly out of Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon to head to back to Vegas so that day is probably out. If anyone wants to play on Thursday, send me an email and I will try to get a time for us somewhere. My email is mcavian@msn.com. Hope everyone has a safe trip in if you are coming from afar and I will see all of you next week. Your friend, Darby and Mary Curlee.
