Ok Jeremy,

Ode to Toad:

I found myself contemplating the beauty of a small toad,
Resting on my back door-step
I'm glad he sat there and not on the road.
He was drinking sunshine as though it were the style,
So I sat down to watch for a while.
I took out my camera, wiped the lens with my shirt,
And looked once again but it was really a piece of dirt.
My emotions turned foggy!
I thought it was a froggy!
So I took pictures of my carpet and found that I really did not care.
But the dirt was still there.
So I sprayed it with water to make it sort of muddy,
And shaped it to a toad frog and made him my buddy,
As my friends saw me they'd laugh and smirk,
At the guy with the toad-buddy made from dirt.
But I knew inside that I had a true friend,
Even though he wouldn't talk I could still pretend,
That he liked to play leap frog when I said when,
But he would never move, so I'd jump over him.
I made my little buddy a cozy little home,
And bought him a kitten whose name was Jerome,
One night when it was foggy,
Jerome peed on my buddy and made a little soggy froggy!

I think we had just finished analyzing Ode to a Grecian Urn in lit.?
This is one of the few creative writings with a PG rating that I would
feel comfortable sharing in a public forum.
Jeremy, I can't believe you still remembered that. I may have left something out of it... I wrote 20+ years ago.

i actually have access to some of the R-rated poems we created and i have to say that not a one compares to that ode...except maybe the one about a chicken. i'll post that one right here...not really. mr. shaw would not be proud...nor ms. bath or ms. warnock (warlock). i do want to echo alan's words from the previous post. thank you all and i look forward to (probably less frequent, but occasional) correspondence with many of you. take care all and you can always find me struggling to get my work published and do a decent job molding future mathematics teachers. keep in touch.

Patrick,
I saw you last night on Password. I have to say, I was probably more nervous watching you play, than I would have been had I been playing myself!
Congrats on winning the $25G! Too bad they didn't have smarter celebs on there, you might have won a lot more! Next time, you should ask them to replace the celebs with grads of WFHS! I think any of us would have done a better job for you!
It was a blast watching you, though!

PS- You're rendition of Endless Love with Adam is still one of my personal highlights from the reunion weekend!

Valerie Dennison (Strange)

Hate to start the year off with bad news, but a friend of mine from Windsor has passed away. Sharon Waters (now Winn) started out with us at WFHS and went to school with many of you before that. I saw her obit in the paper today. She died Sunday, Jan 4th. Please pray for her family.

Grant Sims SO WHATS UP FOLKS? We all got quite after the reunion. How was Christmas for all of you? I hope that everyone had a great new year. Val, I Stacy Kendrick sites came by my office today and told me about Shannon. She said she saw many people at the wake. So what else is going on out there? Mark A. Jones I hate to be the bearer of more bad news but we lost another classmate. Nichole Simpson-Wafford (Class of 1988) died Saturday (2/14/09) evening in Savannah. She leaves a loving husband and son. My prayers go out to her family.
