Children: | No, but the only child between my two WFHS alum siblings comes from my brother Herman. His offspring More…is Herman Lee Riley III. We're very close and he is a sophomore at my alma mater Morehouse College. He's accepted an internship this summer at HBO (in New York City) and will stay with Ant and me. So, that's a bit of my LEGACY at work!!! |

Hi there to all of you!
I cut-and-paste a couple of BIOs in here initially, but after reading all of your first person tellings, figured I should take some time to personally update you (and the bios will follow! SMILE!).
So good to hear from all of you... and to see your faces and read your stories! It seems we're all still trusting THE SPIRIT OF SUCCESS as a guide to our lives.
In all of my travels, Savannah is a constant thread as whenever people find out I'm from Savannah, they speak of its beauty and the architecture and the squares, etc. And of course, beyond living there, we got a frontrow seat/behind-the-scenes view of so much of that (though I think I appreciated it more, after I left).
I am truly living my dreams and then some. There are still many things I'm figuring out, but I'm really enjoying the process of life, love, and career.
Though I limit how much I talk about it in web-form and public websites (for contractual/privacy reasons), the lion's share of my work as an independent producer/personality/writer is with ORPAH for whom I am a freelance field producer (with some spot on-cam time: http://216.117.188.141/PRiley/PRileyHarpoReel.wmv). I'm on the road now with Gayle King for a May episode ("Best Sandwiches" in America. I launched a couple of years ago... and produced that franchise, which started with our going on an adventure for the "Best Burgers" and "Best Cakes".); just did a shoot with Mariah Carey last week; etc. And I got my one-on-one time with my icon DIANA ROSS at Oprah's LEGENDS BALL (in 2005)for which I was commissioned to be the sole interviewer of all LEGENDS and YOUNG'Ns for OPRAH and that footage comprised the ABC network special that ran in 2006. I interviewed President Clinton during his last week in The White House (The Roosevelt Room). And though I didn't travel to South Africa for this project, I got a senior field producer credit on Oprah's ABC Network Special about her girls' academy (for stateside production work I did to support that project). So many great moments in my career,I can't name them all.
Meanwhile, I am still building my professional brand to support itself (and me - in the progress), which requires I work on many other projects as my schedule will allow. That includes on-camera opportunities. Some of that latest work includes a recent booking on 'OUR WORLD WITH BLACK ENTERPRISE' - hosted by ED GORDON who invited me to be a pop culture analyst on that show. I weighed in spontaneously on pop culture, etc. as I have on other programs and pilots as host, pundit, etc. Some of my on-cam work follows: http://216.117.188.141/PatrickRileyGeneral.wmv
And the UNIVERSE and GOD continue to show up brilliantly:
* Earlier this year, I booked some spot on-camera work (as a personality/style maven) for 'The Hugh Thompson Show' which streams on AT&T's Technical Station. It was a profitable and good experience that has inspired interest from other shows -like 'Maury' - using my on-cam talents.
* I was recently commissioned by REMY MARTIN to pull a production team together and conduct man-on-street interviews about the premium liquor company's new limited edition bottle of cognac, designed by celebrity photographer David LaChappelle.
* And in addition to many other possibilities and pursuits, popular radio personality Shelley Wade has invited me to sit in on a weekly roundtable at New York City radio station (Z-100) to talk all things 'American Idol' (this season):
http://z100.com/cc-common/common-nyc/podcast/single_page.html?podcast=americanidol6chats
* Additionally, I have signed on with independent filmmaker Sue May (www.bslsthedoc.com - in progress; www.myspace.com/bslsthedoc) as 'associate producer' to help her book a handful of high-profile women to be interviewed briefly (30-minutes-or-less) for her independent documentary 'Big Sister, Little Sister' (BSLS).
AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH - AS TESTIMONIALS GO:
I just competed as a contestant in MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD - hosted by Regis Philbin. I was on... and it will air in May. You must watch and see if I won a million. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!
Additionally, as I am managing my brand as independent TV personality/producer/writer, I am pushing to upgrade the blog
What a HAPPY time! Thanks for the years!

'SOMEDAY WE'LL BE TOGETHER... WE STILL TOGETHER (KINDA')'
Of course, I want to romanticize my return home to Savannah for my 20-year high school reunion. In fact, I might have channeled Stew, the middle-class black teenager who goes to Europe to find himself among the avant garde (before returning home for that morale of the story) in my favorite Broadway musical “Passing Strange” (www.passingstrangeonbroadway.com) – nominated for seven Tony awards (www.tonyawards.com/) and winner to composer/performer Stew for best book of a musical (presented this weekend in my current headquarters of New York City while I was in Savannah). I might have filed through my pop culture conscience and internalized what Diana Ross must have felt like when she said “Someday We’ll Be Together”. Then, one more time 13 years later with her Supremes in 1983 at “Motown 25” (You know how ‘the gays’ are always channeling their divas). And – thereafter – with some ‘other’ Supremes in 2000 on her ill-advised, though critically-acclaimed, “Return to Love” tour (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoXGzVKAnxw). But I wanted ‘my’ reunion to be a success. That wouldn’t work. Oh, what about the skit on “In Living Color” in which Kim Wayans and David Alan Grier portray Mr. and Mrs. Brooks – the seemingly loving elderly couple who constantly insult and attempt to kill each other. After numerous failed attempts, they resort to attacking each other. They usually end with 'And we stiiiiilll together!' This humorous sentiment is one that my ‘clicque’ from school used quite often over the years after graduation as we were so close in school, it was unfathomable that we wouldn’t just be close forever. And though we’ve all gone and grown in different directions, we are – for the most part – ‘still together’ (kinda’) or – at least – on each others’ radars (even though half the posse didn’t show up for the reunion. We missed you Bernie, Tish, Cres, Tonja… and Win!).
With that, I landed in Savannah on Friday afternoon and hit the ground running. Ern and I decided to grab a personal pan from our old post-football-game hangout Godfather’s Pizza ( www.godfathers.com/ ). From there, we headed over to The Savannah Mall ( www.savannahmall.com ) – another hangout where our ’88 classmate Lori Jones Lewis and her husband own a karaoke spot Star Watch (http://www.starwatchstudio.com/), which they donated to us for our hospitality night. It was so good to see everybody! From the folks with whom I actually attended high school to the ones that I’ve known since elementary school (Largo Tibet), it was just one rush after another. My best friend and “amazing grace” Natalie oversaw the planning of it all (with Lori and another classmate Terrence right alongside her). And from the enthusiasm of our first embraces, it was clear this was going to be a special weekend. Classmate Adam (with whom I was in the band and show choir) proposed we do a duet. Strangely (but not unlike the twist
