I was saddened to learn of Norman's passing. While I have not been in touch with him in recent years, I saw him many times since high school. I will miss our conversations. He loved travel in particular his trips to China, which seemed to invigorate him. In high school he was a prolific poet. In his memory I pulled out a copy Semanteme from our senior year. Here is a poem of his that appeared on the cover:
dawn
dropped awake
like an ancient
into a shadow
no longer
than shame,
& no sooner
than joy
did i drop
warfare & money to climb
into the daylight of your name.
May he rest in peace.
Happy birthday a day late. We haven't spoken since our breakfast in Cleveland, which is truly enjoyed. I hope you are safe and doing well. Take care. All the best,
Gary
Happy birthday even though I am late. I hope life has been treating you well.
Gary, happy birthday. I hope that you are doing well. Best wishes as we head into the world of Medicare.
