THank you so much Judy for your kind words.  Let's do lunch sometime.  Maybe a few other Shakerites can join us.  Now that the pendemic is finnaly over we have some options.

Now that the pendemic is over maybe we can do this at a food cort.  A couple of good places would be Beachwood Mall or at the end of the Van Aken Rapid in Shaker. That way you can have lunch or just a drink or nothing or a huge lunch with a desert or just desert, This way nobody is left out with special conditions.   If only one person shows up that is ok with me. Or if everyone within NE Ohio from class shows up that is also fine with me.  This time of the year in the Cleveland area is also good for this extra ciriculmn activity.  Now let's all hold hands and chant without getting political.

I am interested in a Cleveland informal lunch. Thanks for all you do, Torchy!  BTW, I was chosen for a solo photography exhibition. The opening reception, a public event, is at the Solon (OH) Center for the Arts, Saturday, March 25, 4;00-6:00 PM. 100% of my share of photography sales will be donated to Maltz Museum, where I have been a docent since 2008.

I also am saddened to learn of your partner's death. We are getting to the age where many of us are facing physical challenges if not losses. May your memories of your times together help sustain you as you. Barbara

Torchy, I was just informed by Mary Beth that Rennie Crane passed away on April 21. Three children Ren, Jackie and Brian were there when he passed away. He was a great person, father and swimmer. I as well as the Shaker class of "65" will miss him. Chuck Bauernschmidt

Although we recognize that this is the place in life's journey that we now find ourselves, it doesn't make it any easier to take when we learn that we have lost someone like Rennie. It is a lead pipe cinch that many of us will take this one particularyly hard. Condolences to his family!! It doesn't go without notice for me that he transitioned on my birthday!

Thanks, Chuck and Torchy for delivering the word.

Ron

RIP, Rennie. You were a truly kind person and did wonderful things with your life. I did not know you well, but I do know you were a terrific swimmer and won championships for Shaker and Ohio State. My heartfelt sympathies to your family. I am sure you are missed greatly.

I regret to report that in early October Andy Hibshman passed away in Atlanta from pancreatic cancer.

Andy graduated from Washington University, spent a year as a VISTA volunteer in Kansas City, and then found his way in a VW camper to central Vermont where he settled into a quiet, rural, life.

In about 1985, in his own words:

“I was introduced to the possibility that there was a God and that one could have a living relationship with Him…  I started attending church ……The senior leader took me aside with my friend now my wife, Lael, and asked me if I wanted to receive Jesus as my Savior.  I, knowing almost nothing about what I was getting into, replied, “Does He have to be involved in this?”    In spite of my naivete, within eighteen months I left my job, rented my house, and moved to Alaska to live in and build a community with fellow believers.”

Many years later, Andy and Lael relocated, first, to Arizona and finally to Peachtree City outside of Atlanta.

To the end, Andy remained a Believer– telling me after his diagnosis that he was supposed to believe in miracles, and now he would see about that.

He never lost his sense of humor nor his extraordinary human decency, and he remained an unflinching fan of the Cleveland Guardians (a/k/a Indians) and the Browns.

In addition to his wife, he left behind a loving religious community, and friends outside that community who will miss him deeply.

Surprised and very sorry to hear this. Andy lived a block away from me. An early memory, if I recall correctly, was going to Andy's house and his father was in an iron lung machine, where I think he remained until he died. I had met both of his brothers (Dan and Jon?), one whom I believe was our paper boy. We all went to Fernway, one of the less "social" elementary schools. Andy was a class representative as I remember it, and a down to earth guy with no pretensions.  My condolences to his friends and family.

Andy was a wonderful man.  We talked for a long time at one of the reunions--we both had given our lives to Christ and were pretty stunned that had happened.  (I had asked him to tell me one amazing thing that he'd done after graduation, and he told me his life change. He high fived me when I shared the same thing.)  We stayed in touch a little, and I deeply regret not having visited him when we were in Georgia a couple of years ago. We'll meet again.

Such sad news.  I posted under Andy's profile, but this seems to be the spot for remembrances.  I also remember Andy's ill father, to whom Andy was devoted.  His Dad used to sit in the car and watch us play baskebtall in Andy's backyard, then with great difficulty and help from Andy finally emerge from the car and walk slowly inside. It was very emotional, very touching.  Thanks to this site (thank you, Torchy) Andy and i kept in touch over the decades, little mesages back and forth.  A most kind, warm and interesting friend.  We'll all miss and remember him. Thanks to Roger too for posting.

I really didn't know Andy, but I hope to fellowship with him in Heaven.  I too am a Believer, as is Kathy Leeb.

If Andy were here, I believe he would be praying for Israel.  Let's pray for Israel.

The Lord's Best,

Judy Disantis
