So sorry to hear about Ileen's passing. I have fond memories of her when we were fellow classmates in Ann Arbor at Univ Michigan. She was usually upbeat and smiling. My deepest condolences to Jeff and the family.--Ken Kraus.

Hearing of the passing of Ilene Kurlander through Joani’s post clearly brings back the days of Sussex Elementary School to me as well. Vivid remembrances of Joani Borod, Naomi Widzer, Ilene, Cathy Ginsburg and so many others... those still with us and those sadly departed. I can think back to what a sweet and gentle soul Ilene was and will always remain in my memory. Much love and deepest condolences to Ilene’s family & friends.

Saddened to learn of Ileen's passing. She was a nice friend to have in High School, and I liked learning she was a nature lover too. She and Jeff were lucky to find each other early in life and get many good years together...though not enough. Sincere condolences to Jeff and the family on this loss.

This sad news makes me wish I'd managed to keep up better with high-school friends. Ileen ("Kurly" as she signed my 1965 Gristmill) is still, in my mind's eye, the vibrant, smart, and fun 16 or 17-year old who shared such good times with me. She was especially happy, Jeff, with you at her side, and I hope all the memories of your lives together bring some comfort.

Dear Ronna,  How/where are you?  I miss you.  Could you send me your email address?  Mine is joanborod@alumnae.smith.edu.  I live in Hoboken, N.J. and have worked at Queens College in Flushing and Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC for the past 35 years.  Best, Joani

Dear Jeff, I am so sorry about Ileen. She was such a wonderful person.  I miss you, too.  It was so good to sit at the same table with you and Ileen for dinner at the 50th Reunion.  In deep sympathy, Joani

Dear Friends,

I remember Ileen so well.  I always enjoyed being with her.  I am so sad that so many of our lovely and special classmates are gone.

I have sort of been a "lurker" on this list, but all of the comments I read here resonate so much.

Like Ronna, I wish I had kept in touch better over the years and would love to reconnect.  I am at bikebarbara@gmail.com.

Regards,

Barbara
