Kenneth W. Dabney

Ken Dabney,

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the 50th reunion. I will be out of town that week.

Would like to attend the events if there are any leading to it. Are there any events leading up to this summer. Yes?

Ken, sorry you aren't able to join us!  There are no other activities being planned by the committee, but I have heard of small group "mini reunions" happening.  Maybe your message will prompt something!

Chiquitia Montgomery

Hello to fellow Moreland Elementary students.

After the most recent renovation of Shaker Library, (previously Moreland), a cornerstone was installed and a plaque listing Principals from the time the school opened to it's closing.

SAVE THE DATE, SUNDAY, AUGUST 4, 2PM

SHAKER LIBRARY

15600 VAN AKEN BLVD, (entrance and parking in rear)

Search library website for updates closer to the date.

There will be a dedication for both items and organizers from the library would love for former students and teachers to attend. There will be displays of photos and artifacts, plus a chance for former students to share memories. I'm a former Morelander and on the Planning Committee. Please plan on attending and spread the word about the Dedication. Thank you.

Thanks for the info, Chiquitia!  I actually went to Moreland for kindergarten and part of first grade, and both my brother and sister went there K-12.  Lots of fond memories!

I'll be there representing Ludlow. Come on...let's fill up this train with those coming from all of the Shaker elementary schools, and those who joined us after! It's all about SHHS '74 for our 50th year!

I went to Ludlow all six years, Class of 68. That was the best school at that time in Shaker and maybe the world. Sorry other Shaker Schools, truth is hard. I am Shaker Class of 74. I march in Pride, think Black Lives Matter, am a membeer of Democratic Socialists of America,  and Ludlow got me started on this path. I'd like to be riding that Ludlow train at the reunion but I'm in Maine, people counting on me to do what needs to be done. The usual excuses. But keep me informed, maybe I can make a quick getaway if I haven't missed things already. (The photo is me doing Shakespeare's Measure for Measure last month. I'm in red.)

I hope I won't be the only Sussex person there.

I'm a  Sussex person -- but went to Moreland grades 1-3.  Loved both schools.

Reading Laura's book now (in between performances of Titanic on the Jersey shore). It's fascinating, since we (our class) really lived through what she's writing about. So grateful we are using our reunion time to celebrate & explore our Shaker education & background (even legacy) on a deeper level. It was/is a brilliant idea. 💖

I read the book right after it came out and was fascinated by it. I was so ignorant of what was going on at the time, but recognized a few things and events. I enjoyed seeing sites and people listed in the book that I knew. Totally enjoyed reading it.

If you've put-off registering for Red and White NIght, you only have until Sunday to take advantage of getting the free class t-shirt designed exclusively for us by our own Ellen Dieter.  Here's a sneak peek!
