Hmm...I will have to think on that one. I am sure that it will be obvious. Don't you remember the movie where the snake came out of that girl's mouth and I think it was in 3D. Hey Darrell! How are things? Great to hear from you!

Was just talking with my wife and I brought up a couple of things she doesn't remember. Do any of you remember the radio station KQ 94 or the Southpark Country Corral. I remember KQ 94 being a great album oriented rock station. And also remember seeing Lee Greenwood at Southpark before he was a big star.

I don't remember that station Mark. I left the area in 1986 though so I may not have been around. Okay Moose I am going to take a stab at it. Steve French?

Nope, thats not it. It was Mark Stroup. Remember he had the big Adam's Apple and it looked like he swollowed a Hickory Nutt, So that name seemed to stick.

Tammi, good to hear from you. Didn't Mark Stroup make a basket at the wrong end of the court one time? In a game I mean.

Mark-that is correct. Kinda a bummer. Moose the Fog has lifted. I now remember. Wow I am turning into my grandfather. Guess I'll go feed the squirrels.

Mike Brown (1986)

Mark, I totally forgot about that, but you are correct that did happen. Chuck do you remember what Keith Keedy left on the bench in the dressing room at some school we were playing at. He made the statement "Omp on that!" I also remember Donnie Roarie moon walking and break dancing. Oh those were the days. Hey Tammi.

Moose I have wanted to forget that event in the locker room for years. Sadly I cannot. It was at JA Fair and I remember it well. I also remember really well how much Bailey liked to run us.

Mark Avant (1985)

Chuck, don't feel alone on the memory thing. I remember Donnie having that old beaten up Porsche and that old Vette.
Just almost cool cars. Not quite. I also remember his leather tux at our Jr prom. Keith Keedy, I remember his nickname was Juke Box Hero. He used to dance with himself at Charlie Goodnight's looking in the mirror the whole night. I can only imagine what he left on that bench. His mom also used to get up and do his hair every morning.

Mike Brown (1986)

That is too funny. His mom did his hair?? The last time I seen Keith was at a batchlor party in Poyen. He was there as a body guard for the entertainment. I seen Mark Dameron back in December. He lives in Texarkana. It was good to see him. He was there watching David's step daughter playing basketball. My son is a Junior and plays the post position just like I did, although he is a bit better than what I was.

Just wanted to ask, if anybody on the forum is at the right age to have been at the middle school or hopefully witnessed it. TIM MCOOL FALLING OFF THE CATWALK?

02/20/09 07:40 PM #1762

Chuck Schwartz (1985)

My sister told me that story Jon Paul. I have heard a reference to the incident in here before. Gotta love the wonderful supervision back in the good old days. I remember a P.E. class when I was in the 8th grade or so when the teacher didn't show up. The class turned into a massive dodgeball game with basketballs and no boundaries. Bob Drake nailed me in the face with a throw from the catwalk. I shook it off, but I think I had "Wilson" backwards on my forehead for a few days.

Jon Paul. Jody and I were talking about that in a much earlier post. I believe his nickname was Tim McCool the flying fool. Not very nice. The legend went he was supposedly trying to jump onto the trampoline. Chuck those dodgeball games got pretty vicious. I mean Coach Yancey was "supervising". Whatever happened to Bob. I really liked him.
Kinda had a Hyde thing going from that 70's show.

02/20/09 09:08 PM #1764

Chuck Schwartz (1985)

I think Yancey had his "coaching shoes" kicked up on his desk and was reading the paper. I think Tim was trying to make a basket from the catwalk and the ball retrievers kept throwing the ball further away from him. My sister said that Scott Vailes somewhat arrested his fall. I am sure that story has expanded somewhat over the years. Yancey always scared me. Funny stories about Keith Keedy. I spent a Summer playing American Legion with him and got to know him better. He was a great baseball player and was a cool teammate. He was really in his element. Speaking of supervision and 2 decades of education, whiney parents and lawsuits, do you guys remember playing "kill the man" at recess in Middle School?

02/20/09 11:23 PM #1765

Mark Avant (1985)

Kill the man was the insperation for the movie Rollerball
wasn't it. Man who knows what the actual truth was with Tim
McCool. I really liked Keith. Actually once you got him away from all the bs he was an ok guy. And really was a good athlete. He just worried too much about getting his uniforms
dirty or messing his hair.

Yeah...one time I got hit by Travis Gaddis so hard that it knocked me out. I came to but spend the rest of the day wandering around asking people what we did in music class that morning.

Once when we were behind the jr high playing, I had a 20 minute time loss. I was sure I was abducted by aliens. I think it was Randy Pruitt though.

Jody Lowery (1986)

I remember in middle school we used to play "Kill Doug" where Doug Simpson was the only one that would run with one of those little footballs like the cheerleaders would throw at games and everyone would chase him. There would be a pack of probably 50 guys chasing him.

Doug's and Greg's was another gathering spot. I guess kinda centrally located???I remember being able to fling one of those balls a mile. Also Mrs.Gruby lived over by his house and every now and then we could catch her laying out. Yowza!
My vote for best looking teacher at Sheridan while I was there.

Jody Lowery (1986)

Ah yes Mrs. Gruby, she would give me a paddling every Tues. for not having my spelling words!

McCool would forget his on purpose I'm sure. After every swat he'd moan and groan like he loved it.
