Hello all fellow classmates. It sounds like some people are putting a lot of thoughts into the reunion and that is great. We have always been a class of firsts, the first to graduate in the rain, and the first to host our reunion at a football game. Since our class have done this, graduations went through in the rain (until they moved it to Alltel Arena because of the tornadoes in 2003) and all classes have had some kind of reunion around a home football game. It will be OK if we do decide to do something else. Let's just not try to copy another class, that might have had problems bringing it all together. We are very unique and I will love to see us that way. I don't mind doing what needs to be done to make this a great time for our class.

Also, congratulations to Jamie and Gayla. I am glad that you were the first grandma's and not me. Just remember to love those kids and give extra love to that grand baby. Your entire family will be in my prayers. I pray that the baby will come home soon and be healthy.

Thanks again to Pat for setting this up, so that we can keep in touch. At least you are right about us being ahead of the last reunion. Go Jackets!!!!

I'm just curious about something... We keep talking about keeping the reunion in Sheridan, but I've not seen anything mentioned about having it one of the schools... Do the schools not rent out the gym's??

Chris, I appreciate your efforts and I think the prices and amenities you got from the place in Hot Springs sounded great. In my opinion, that would be as good a place as any to have the reunion, I just thought a little more discussion about other alternatives might be in order, and was primarily concerned about people not coming if it gets too costly. Like Robert, I missed the 10-year reunion and want to see as many people as possible this time around! But I also agree with those of you who have expressed a desire to make this one different and special, which may mean spending a bit more money. That's why I'm anxious to get started collecting money. As far as when the planning meeting is held, I think that should be left up to the class officers.

The main reason I was trying to get a spot planned so early, is that we are a huge class, we had around 130 people come last time, I kinda think we will have 150 minimum come this time, or it could me a lot more than that attend the reunion. With a class our size the lady at the Austin Hotel said you better plan a year in advance or it might not be there on the date you want. I talked with the Class President of the 1988 Class and he said he wasn't doing anything with their class reunion. He planned the 5 yr and 10 yr reunion all by himself, and said he was burned out. I have done that myself, so I could see where he was coming from. Aaron Wilson stepped up and got the 1988 reunion planned. I understand we have officers, but we are not in high school anymore. What I mean by that is when you have kids, job, you just don't have the time anymore like you did in high school. Planning a reunion is a lot of work, time, and stressful. I mean whoever did the 10-year directory did an awesome job whoever you are, I know that was a lot of hard work. I was just trying to help get us a place to hold the event, then make it cost efficient. You might have a great idea, or someone else might come up with an idea in Little Rock, Sheridan, Pine Bluff, or Benton to have the reunion. I know I have stepped on toes, so I think it is best for me personally just to stick with my one idea, and let others suggest what they have found out about where to have a reunion. Like Robert if it is at McDonalds I will be there to see everyone. I sent Courtney what I had from the 1987 Football Team reunion with current emails, phone numbers etc. I will call and email several classmates this week when I am out of town to tell them about the site. I am sure whatever they come up with we will all enjoy and have a good time.

According to the survey, only 43 responses have been entered. It is close between Hot Springs and Sheridan. I took a count just now and we have 101 classmates who have created a profile on this site. We still need to hear from at least 58.
Lets show our interest by taking the survey, give it a couple of weeks for everyone to respond, and see what the majority would like to do.
Pat, since the Belle seems to not be an issue anymore, can we just call it Hot Springs.
LETS HIT THE SURVEY TO GET AN ACCURATE ASSESSMENT OF EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS AND GO WITH IT.

PS. At only 43 responding, each survey completed is worth more than 2%. There is only 9% difference between Sheridan and Hot Springs. (4 people). Include the "other" I put in and it is only 3 people.
Pat, aagin, the "Belle on Lake Hamilton" can create a botched survey because from watching the forum, it seems that none want the Belle but still want Hot Springs. Can you creat a new option of Hot Springs rather than us having to state this under "other?"

Hey Gayla - Moth balls are on sale at the Dollar General. haha! jus' kiddin'. They're not.

Hey guys,

I think we need to figure out where everyone can meet at the homecoming game this Friday for all those interested. I plan on attending and I think with all the reunion talk it has become an afterthought. We might even get some ideas for the reunion while we're together. Maybe down on the track to the right of the bleachers? or a bonfire in the parking lot??

10/13/08 04:03 PM #157

Crystal Clark (Woods)

I'm all for trying to get together Friday night for those of us who can make it, regardless of whether or not we discuss the reunion. Just let me know where!

David, I thought of several possible replies to that one, but decided to leave it alone, for fear that people might think we were SERIOUS!

I'll be there. Um, at the game, not that bleacher thing, David.

I just wanted to say hi to the class of 1989. Good to hear from all of you.

To Gayla and Jamie - Congratulations on the new baby. I also had twins born prematurely at 9 weeks early. They spent 5 and 6 weeks in nicu. Tyler did spend a few days on a vent. Both of them spent many days with feeding tubes, oxygen, and so forth. We had several issues, pneumonia, lumbar puncture, many blood transfusions, but today they are relatively healthy 8-year-old boys. I remember getting to hold them for the first time, as well. It is very hard to sit there and look at them and not be able to even touch them, but it does get better! They do grow stronger very quickly. I will be praying for your baby and your family.

Hey, I called The Austin Hotel in Hot Springs to get available dates what they had for the remainder of the year, if we were to choose this place. If there is a question mark bye the date that means there is a proposal from a group considering that day. The fee to reserve the room is $400. I asked if we waited until January 24th to decide, she said we probably won't a date available for your class of 1989. I realize people want to look at other options, but if we wanted some place in Little Rock, it will probably be close to the same results. So hopefully someone will come up with a Little Rock option, or I guess we could always stay in Sheridan somewhere? Here is the available dates they have left for 2009.
May: 16th, 23rd, & 30th.
June: 13th
July: N/A
August: 1st?, 15th, & 29th
September: 5th?, 26th
October: 17th
November: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th.

I talked to Scott Taylor tonight, he thinks he still has a copy of the Boatright video, me, Scott, and Justin Allen did. If he can find it, ya'll will love It! When is homecoming? This Friday night?

For those considering the dates, August is out for me. That is the opening of the Blackthorn Village Renaissance Faire up here in NE Arkansas. Since I am the owner and organizer, I kind of have to be here getting things ready.
Discounts will be offered for all of you who want to come, though.
