I can't believe it's been 24+ years since I first met Steph. She and I grew to be very close. She was a sweetheart of a person - full of piss & vinegar and always there for anyone when they needed her. I still miss her greatly after all these years. The world lost a special person when we lost Steph. You are in my thoughts frequently, Stephanie, as is your family. Love~Carolyn
Every time I visit this website I start to write something for Steph, but I still get very emotionally when I think about her not being here with us anymore. I try to visit her "resting place" whenever I go back to Sioux City, maybe because it still doesn't seem real. Steph and I became friends in kindergarten and remained friends throughtout her entire life. We had some of the most amazing times together. Anyone who knew her I think could say anytime spent with her was a FUN and EXCITING time! As I read all of the profiles of our classmates I can't help but wonder, if Steph was still with us, what she would have written, what her accomplishments would have been, how many children, etc. I am thankful for all of the good times we had and she will always be in my thoughts!
AFTER 21 YEARS I STILL FEEL AN ACHE IN MY HEART. I WAS LIVING OUT OF STATE AND COULD NOT ATTEND HER FUNERAL THEREFORE,NO WORDS TO COMFORT,AND IT WAS OF COURSE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND CLOSURE. STEPH NOT ONLY DIDN'T JUDGE ME FOR BEING DIFFERENT OR GOING THROUGH MY TEEN-ANGST,BUT WAS EVER SO ENDEARING,HONEST,SINCERE, AND YEAH,A LITTLE DIZZY.( IT'S OKAY I LOVED HER LIKE A SISTER, I CAN GET BY WITH THAT ONE.) I DO KNOW GOD CALLS HIS PEOPLE WHEN IT'S TIME.MAYBE SHE ALREADY KNEW WHAT IT WOULD TAKE US ALL A LIFETIME TO LEARN.TO LIVE EACH DAY AS YOUR LAST,LIVE LIFE AND LOVE GOD,YOURSELF,AND FRIENDS,FAMILY,LIKE YOU HAD 24 HOURS TO LIVE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE FORMULA FOR LIFE. HOWEVER HARD THIS MAY BE TO DO,ONE THING IS CERTAIN, WHEN I THINK OF THE PERSON I'D ASPIRE TO BE LIKE STEPH COMES TO MIND.ALL MY MEMORIES OF YOU ARE GOOD! I LOVE AND MISS YOU SIS.JASON
I don't believe I have ever known a sweeter, or kinder person since Steph. She was such a wonderful friend to everybody. We went to Smith, then West Jr, the West High together and I always counted her as a close friend who was always there for me. I remember when I found out she had passed away, and my daughter Sarah, who was 2 at the time asked me why I was crying. I told her that the nicest person I have ever known had gone to heaven. I will miss her always.
