Lindsey was one of my best friends starting in 7th grade at Flowery thru High School. He introduced me to the "Firesign Theater". We would write and act-out a pretend radio show we called "The Adventures of Tommy Ten Speed" the boy who loved cycling so much he had a bicycle surgically attached to his body.
Lindsey was a gentle giant with an even bigger sense of humor. Steve.

Lindsey was a great guy. We spent some good times at Sunday school. Lynn

I met Lindsey, or "Pins" as some of us called him, when I started at Dunbar in the fourth grade.  We became fast friends and called each others mothers "Mom".  We spent a lot of time at each others homes and, in many ways, Pins was closer to me than any other person.  The adventures and memories are too numverous to mention but I would like to share a coupole with everyone:

Riding around on his Vespa, painted day-glo from cans of paint bought at Parsons; driving around in his mother's Chevy II station wagon with the "idiot" seat; throwing water balloons at girls from Montgomery High; the grass (and I mean lawn clippings) strewn around the tailgate of the Chevy II on Santa Rosa Ave, giving homage to our guru of the night; "Head on Heineccius" yelled just prior to striking a cherryed out Mustang leaving the Sears parking lot and the guy's girlfriend yelling, "Don't hit him Gary!" as the guy tore out of his car.  Lindsey jumped out with both hands raised above his head yelling, "Don't hit me Gary!".  Gary could n't help himself and started to smile at the situation; Lindsey stopping Buffalo Chips from forcing second hand smoke on me at the Russian River.  In High School he became "teddybear" to a few of us, after he quit the football team Freshman year, because he found out the coach wanted him to hit people, to hurt the oposing team.  It just wans't in Lindsey's nature to hurt anyone, except, perhaps his brother Lance.

But my all time fondest memory of Lindsey was a couple of days before my wedding to Terry he came into Eraldi's where I was working part-time, dressed in his bib overalls, barefoot and no shirt, afro out to there (he was living out of his car at that time, I believe), saying he could not attend the wedding because he didn't have anything to wear.  I told him to come even if he came naked, he was my friend and I really wanted him there.  Standing at the alter, waiting for Terry to enter the church, the music playing, I scanned the auditorium looking at everyone in attendance and looking for Lindsey in particular.  He was not there.  The birdal march started, Terry and her father entered at the rear of the church and just behind them stepped Lindsey; bib -veralls, barefoot, no shirt, but a tie.  Not only had he come, but he had dressed up for the ocassion.  He stopped by the reception only long enough to go through the receiving line, "I don't want to ruin it for anybody." and wish us the best.

You were truly a gentle giant and I still think about you often.  I hope you are happier, I know I miss you a lot.
