South Charleston High School Class Of 1963
Linda Brabban (Huffman)
After 50 years or so one's mind tends to play games with memory,
but I remember Jimmy James well. He was fun loving yet possessed
a very intelligent and creative flair for putting on paper keen and poignant
observations.
While I cannot recall all the details, I do remember Jim and his wife visiting
us in Indianapolis (around the summer of 1970) after their trip to WV. They were
returning to their home in New Mexico where he would then be deployed as
a U.S.Marine to Viet Nam. That Christmas our card was answered by a phone
call informing us of his death. Another voice silenced by another ugly war.
I hope we can place a flag beside his name on the profile sheet.
Those of us preparing for our 50th reunion are fortunate. Life is not always fair.
A prayer to all who are currently serving our country and renewed thanks to those
who have already served.
