Travel much? What was your best trip?

Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. I've been four times and plan to go again. Have you ever had Bushmills for breakfast, served warm in a shot glass with sugar? Have you ever traveled around a curve on a very narrow road and had to stop on a dime because the farmer was crossing the road with his cows? Cows do have the right of way in Ireland. Have you ever come up the road and had guns aimed at you and soldiers telling you to stop so they could search your trunk? Have you ever been awakened in the morning by a bomb blast? Have you ever sat on a cliff and watched the sunset over the ocean at 11:30 at night? I have and I'd do it all over again. I've been going to Northern Ireland since 1985 when "the troubles" were still really bad. The last time I went was 2001 and it was just a beautiful, peaceful, calm trip. I never felt that I was in danger when I was there but trouble was always right around the corner in those first trips that I made. One of my best friends lives in Northern Ireland and we've been back and forth visiting for years. It's time to go again.

Also top of the list was the year Harvey and I drove down to Charleston, South Carolina by way of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you like the shore, you love the Outer Banks. We did it in May, before the tourist season started and we loved every minute of that trip.

We have done that trip twice just before a hurricane hits the area and it changes the Outer Banks. Roads were washed out, replaced and washed out again.

We rented a huge house for the past two years on Carova Beach, an area that requires 4X4 to get there. The house was 9.6 miles up the beach and it was wonderful. We are going again this year but to a different house. It's a great place to stay.

This coming winter, we are going to Florida for a couple of months.

We sold our boat and have bought a Winnebago. We are planning on touring the USA next summer, 2016.

Traveled in our Winnebago to Yellowstone National Park, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park with many stops along the way. Traveled back home through Canada and northern USA. Three months on the road that we will always cherish.

Spent 3 months traveling around Florida in the winter Jan. to April of 2017.

Summer of 2017 we toured the Atlantic Maritimes which was a fantastic trip.

Winter of 2017-2018 we drove back to Florida for 4 months traveling from the Atlantic Coast to the Gulf Coast, stopping to visit friends and family along the way.

We have now bought a house in Deland Florida and will be staying there winters from now on. We will be moving into the house Dec. 1, 2018. More fun to come.

What did you always want to do that you haven’t done yet?

I'd like to take a riverboat cruise down the Missississippi River. It's still a possibility. Harvey turns 87 this year and I will be 77 so if we're going to do it, this would be the time.

School Story:

I remember our class trip to NYC. A bunch of us, or most of us, had stayed up almost all of the first night. After touring the whole day, we were going to a Broadway show in the evening. I think it was "My Fair Lady". I say I think because I slept through the entire show.

Attended New England School of Accounting, Worcester,MA
Married Rene Ferron Oct 12, 1963
We were divorced in May 1969 and have remained friends.
I have worked in various restaurants in the area then started working at a construction company in Woodstock, CT in Nov. 1972 and finally retired in 2016.
Harvey Copeland and I have been together since 1999. Our main interest other than our families was boating in the Westerly/Stonington area. We sold the boat and bought the RV then sold the RV and bought a house in Florida.
We also enjoy traveling and are hoping to go back to Northern Ireland soon.
I bought myself a kayak for my 60th birthday and I enjoyed kayaking in Little Narragansett Bay during the summer.
