Spokane River Float

Sunday River Float - Class of 89

This will be a very fun and relaxing trip Sunday afternoon, led by Rendall Farley and Joe Kaler, your river guides, with stops on a couple beaches and a BBQ dinner at Joe’s (right across the launch site under the Maple Street Bridge).

Imagine coasting down the Spokane river for a few hours in the sunshine, the cool water and the beautiful scenery, with great people to cap off your reunion weekend. This section of the river from launch at Maple street to put-out at TJ Meenach bridge is easy, safe, fun and relaxing with stretches of slower water, a few sections of mild rapids for a little excitement, and some great beaches we plan to stop at briefly for a respite along the way. It is going to be a very enjoyable and memorable event!!

Anyone that would like to go please signup by emailing as soon as possible to rendallfarley@comcast.net. Please indicate the number in your party and whether you are bringing your own gear (raft, PFD and paddle) or need to sign up for the rental. Rental will be approximately $12 cash collected Friday night at the Swamp and will include passage on a 6-person raft from EWU’s EPIC Adventures group, with paddle and PFD provided. All logistics including rental gear, return trip from TJ Meenach back to the launch site and Joe’s house via the FunBus are handled. For those living nearby that can bring their own gear please do so. Bring your own beverages and food for the trip as desired, we can throw them in the big coolers provided or bring your own. More details including the itinerary and guidelines are below. This is an "unofficial" event and although we will keep it cool and safe, it is at your own risk.

Imagine a huge flotilla of LCHS ’89 rafts cruising down the Spokane Aug 9th. It’s amazing we have this quality of a river trip and the scenery this close to the downtown of a decent sized city. Just do it and sign up by email!

Guidelines

This will not be a crazy drunk float, so please don’t plan on making it one. Enough said.

Eat lunch before you arrive.

Bring water and other beverages of choice and a snack.

If bringing your own gear don’t bring innertubes – you will get too cold – don’t be a "blue-lipper". Standard 2-person rafts of moderate quality work great (cheapo $10 rafts will pop on any rocks).

Children not recommended for the float. If you know what you’re doing, they are good swimmers and accompanied by you, OK.

If you are bringing your own raft, remember your PFD and paddle along with raft and pump up device.

If you email me for the rental, be sure you get my confirmation email back and/or bring it up with me Friday night at the Swamp. Seats are limited and I will have to try and rent more rafts if we get high interest (that would be cool!).

Don’t forget your suntan lotion, sunglasses & a hat.

Again, this is an "unofficial", come at your own risk event.
