Robert “Bob” Joseph McCorkle passed away on June 30, 2013 of a heart attack at the age of 67.
Bob was born in St. Louis, MO on March 14, 1946. He was the son of Robert F. and Val M. McCorkle.
He had many interests in his life. At a young age he sold greeting cards, had a lawn service, cleaned a service station (later he would manage his own station), horseback riding and cooling polo ponies. In high school and after, he was involved in civic theater with lighting and sound, election campaigns for Sam Parks, Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater and many other endeavors. One of his proudest was being Scout Master when his son Michael earned his Eagle. Bob always loved cars even as a young boy of four. He loved working on them, driving them, sports car rallys and just enjoying the looks and handling of a beautiful car. Bob also loved music and traveling with his wife, Laura.
His career started with his love of cars, managing a service station, then selling for a while. Then went into law enforcement where he worked for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department for several years before going back to college to get his degree in Criminal Justice in 1978. The next 30 years of his career was in the insurance business where he retired in Dallas as a claims supervisor in December 2007.
Bob and his wife, Laura moved to Fulton in March 2008 to be close to the water and enjoy our small town atmosphere. Both Bob and Laura supported the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department and the Humane Society. They “adopted” their two dogs Pal and Lola from the Humane Society and Laura continues to spoil both of the “kids”.
Bob is survived by his wife, Laura of 38 years; one son, Michael W. (Cheryl); three granddaughters, Alix, Paige and Journey of Great Falls, MT; a cousin, Don (Merilyn) Sanders of Santa Rosa, CA and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert F. McCorkle, mother Val M. McCorkle, sister Carol Ann Branz and grandson Shelby Thomas McCorkle.

Laura,I am saddened to read of Bob's heart attack and death, and I still hold fond memories of visiting you and Bob in Texas about 15 years ago.
