Cathy,
Jerry and I would love to attend ANYTHING. If it is at JD Legends that is fine...whatever. However, we can't make it the 20th of December. After Christmas is probably better for us unless it is Dec. 13th. Thanks for trying to put something together!

How about the 23rd of December for a get together? I never thought of that. It's probably better for anyone coming "home" for Christmas. I don't have to work the next day. That is my last day of work with GM so I'll need a drink! Depending on the number of people who can make it, I'd consider offering the Simmons' Basement Bar for our party. We can only accomodate about 30 people though. It would have to be catered too because I'm short on time these days.

Cathy,
The 23rd sounds fantastic! I heard the Simmons basement Pub is the place to be! No pressure, anywhere is great, nothing fancy. Let me know what I can bring (meat tray, drink set-ups, snacks, etc). I'll order it on-line, pick it up and we are on our way. Or if you have it at a bar or that place in Franklin...let me know and I'll be happy to send a check with our share. Thanks for trying to put it together! I think the only thing Ronny would request is that you wear that little German number, tee hee! Laura

The 23rd at the Simmons Basement works great too, I can certainly bring a dish and/or contribute to catering. The place in Franklin works well in addition, if there are over 30 folks wanting to attend. Maybe you could do one of the e-invites or something to get a more concrete number to base the decision on? Either way, I'm buying you a shot to celebrate/commiserate your last day at GM. >;-)

Cathy,

Count Sean & I in! Either place would work for us. I'll be glad to help or pitch in any way I can. Just give me a call! Heather

Hello All, I have an opportunity for everyone to do something very special. On Saturday February 7th at the Newport Levee, The 2009 Special Olympics OH/Ky Polar Bear Plunge will take place. This will be my second year jumping. I am looking for Donations and members to form a polar bear team to help raise money for this event. John Lamb has made note to me that he was interested and I sent him an email letting him know. So if anyone else is interested, please let me know. Here is a link to check out the Info.

Last year I made my first jump and it was literally the chill of my life, LOL... but so worth doing for such a great cause. I made myself a promise that I would do it again this year and the years to come. Well it's that time of year again and I'm preparing for it!! Unfortunately I didn't raise the personal goal I set for last year, but I am hopeful that this year I will beat the goal I have set! So please help me to help someones dreams come true. I know personally how tough things have been this year with Gas prices and such, but If 100 people could donate as little as $5.00 each, that would be half of my goal.. and a wonderful start in helping others! I am also looking for people to help form a polar bear team, So we can raise money as a group of caring individuals! The more team members we have the more money we can raise together!!!! I'm sure you know a child or Adult like I do with special needs, wouldn't you like to see them or someone like them succeed in their dream with a lil help from us. So lets warm their hearts, by freezing our butts off for this worthy and wonderful cause!!

Thanks Guys
Love to All,
James Vinson

Some out-of-towners might not be able to make the 23rd. I know that the school where I teach in Baltimore in is session until the 23rd so if anyone has kids...they might not be able to get into town until after that day. I really would love to get to see everyone but totally understand if the earlier date works for most. I can't believe I'm gonna miss this again! And I so wanted to see everyone. One of these days... :)

Totally understand that everyone schedule can't be worked around but if anyone wants to meet at those times please let me know. I would love to meet for drinks with whoever is available.

Been reading all the posts and the 23rd is a GREAT day for me, it is my B DAY lol :) Actually any day around then will work for me, being my own boss has it's sweetness lol! Howdy Kathy, I left G.M. back in 06, could not take it anymore lol! I sent a post waiting for Eric too respond on the web site. In short, I am going too start taking pics of all that I see pretty much. For those that do not know, I bought a semi truck and I am now an over the road cowboy more or less lol! Mount Shasta in California, Mount Hood in Oregon, Devils Backbone in Utah, The Grand Canyon in Arizona, I could go on and on... All I need too do is buy a digital camera and figure out how too work the damn thing lol :) Let me know if I can help in any way Cathy, maybe pick up some peppers from New Mexico that will light up your night like the 4th of July lol. Some beer from Golden Colorado, the actual Coors plant. Wine from the valleys of California. Texas chili that will make your mouth bleed and tongue fall off lmao!!!

Speaking on chili, there is a joke that makes me laugh until I cry! Can't remember the exact site but all you have too do is type in these words... texas chili joke... on the google thingy and click on the first one. I must say, if you can read the entire thing through without laughing, check your pulse, you might be dead lol :)

I have an idea... My best friend Keith is co owner of a bar, Miami Valley Sports Bar. It use too be called Miami Valley Indoor Golf. Anyways, it is huge!!! I am sure we could reserve a section or something. All I have too do is call him up. There are plenty of hotels close by for those that might drink too much lol :) They always have a nice New Years Eve Party also, I forget the price of the cover charge, but they provide champagne at midnight, food, hats and other goodies. Just a thought. Happy Thanksgiving too everyone!

Colleen and I will be back in town from Dec. 27 - Dec. 30...We are thinking about going out in Cincinnati on Saturday, December 27 to see the Menus at the Blue Note and maybe getting a hotel downtown. Anyone interested in meeting up at the show?

If we can get the party house at Settlers' Walk, does anyone know a good caterer and/or a great bartender that would supply his own stock? If I can't find a bartender, I may ask my husband to volunteer and we'll just have a cash bar to pay for the supplies. We both enjoy making drinks, so he should be excited to play.

Cathy,
Hmmm..I tried to go to the evite and it said my name had been removed from the evite invitation. Wow..pretty interesting! Are there any others who just aren't invited? ha ha. Any suggestions on another way to access the evite??? Julie

Cathy Bowman (Simmons)

Sorry, about the e-vite saying that you're not on the list. The link I provided came from an e-vite that I had sent to my work e-mail so I would have a link. I removed my work e-mail from the list and that's why you got that message. Let's try again:

It's done! We're meeting at Cadillac Jack's in Centerville on Tuesday, December 23rd at 6:30! I will put details on the e-vite. Please still RSVP by 12/19/08 on there so I can give the manager a count. He will be reserving tables for us in the enclosed, heated patio room.

Todd if you still want to donate, you can just buy a round of drinks. Maybe you can have us all over this summer for a pool party!

Hey Laura and Laura, I'm totally wearing my German dress!

12/04/08 05:32 PM #56

Laura Lawson

Cathy, I'm afraid you might need a parka to enable the wearing of your heritage German garb. :-) Thanks for pulling this together at Cadillac Jacks!

Todd, sounds like you're doing well for yourself...kudos! Where in Vegas is the fight going to be?

12/05/08 08:35 AM #57

Cathy Bowman (Simmons)

With enough adult beverage that dress is VERY warm, not to mention it's made of wool.

A friend told me of a much better place with $2 pints of beer on Tuesdays. So I resent the e-vite to everyone who's responded in some fashion. We've changed to Champp's in Centerville. Still Tuesday, December 23rd at 6:30pm. They're even reserving a room for us.

12/08/08 06:24 PM #59

Julie Burd (Bush)

Cathy,
That's great! My mom and dad are 5 mins from Chammps. Maybe, just maybe, if I'm organized enough, we can make it even if just for a short while!

12/09/08 07:57 AM #60

Cathy Bowman (Simmons)

Awesome!! Two good reasons to have have changed the location. Jerry and you will be there and $2 pints!

OK, like how many blondes does it take to open an Evite? Glad I changed my hair color! Anyhoo...Ron and I are driving in to town that day with the kids. As long as traffic allows, please include us. May I bring anything? Thanks Cathy for organizing, hope to see ya!

Cathy,

I tried your link and I can't log on. Thanks for organizing this. Great idea! I am not sure if I will be able to make it. I have Christmas for Pats family on Christmas Eve and Christmas for my family on Christmas Day. If I can get everything done, I will stop by. I would love to see everyone again.
