I see snow, a frozen lake through the trees and happy birds at the feeder.
Or:
I see trees of green
Red roses to
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Steve B., whose voice did you use to sing that song? My favorite Louis Armstrong. Dan, where is your cabin? Steve, how colorful are you birds in Alabama?

It is in a small town of about 170 people in northeast Washinton called Marcus that sits on a ridge above lake Roosevelt that is a 300 mile long reservoir in the Columbia river. Just started this last summer putting buildings on so still needs a ton of work.

Dan, sounds great and I'm picturing the view. Post some pictures so I can see if my mind painting a picture is even close.

Right now the view is not the best with landscaping to do and the leaves gone. But let me see what I can find from earlier. Here we have after before and the town boat launch when usable

Dan, your pictures are as beautiful as I painted the cabin (painted in my mind). How is the fishing?

Embarrassed to admit that is the purpose of this project but in 3 years of working on this I haven't taken the time. Should change this year with more slacking off time and finally the senior license fees go from 40 to 10 this year.

Dave, I heard 'What A Wonderful World' sung as a duet with you a Sachmo together.
(Sachmo was singing a bit louder than you wink)

My Satchmo voice isn't so good, unless I practice a little bit.

Dave, I think you have a very long shot to make it on the voice!
But who knows?
I wish I knew "who" or who is because they seem to know everything! Ha!
Now you understand why they put me on my return bus back to Woodbury after my last class!😁 I hope everyone is enjoying this rain. Snow ice, rain again weather here.
Any snowbirds want some company? I hope Tom Hinz is having fun working on our next reunion, it comes up faster than some think. All the vety best to everyone!

Bob, rain in January in Minnesota? Our drive way is about 2 inches thick of ice. Bob, "I want to know, who'll stop the rain?"

01/13/26 03:18 PM #2847

Steven Kaufhold

And I wanna know. Have you ever seen rain comin down sunny day?

Bob could it be Cindy Lou Who?

01/14/26 03:25 PM #2848

Robert Ayre

Well Steve since Dave is the Grinch it may as well could be Cindy "Who lou"!
Yes, I have been in "sun" showers! 😄 Has anybody been ice fishing? Of course only directing that ? To those up here in the northern country. But then again, those down south could be trying to hook their ice in a glass!
Oh, and NOW " ICE" had another meaning here in Minnesota.
Protesters are being paid to fly in from other states to participate in the protests.

Steve Hardy

Horton heard a Who.  Do you suppose it could be Cindy Lou Who?

btw, Steve K, in Key West it often rained on a sunny day, with the rain, sunshine, and rainbow sharing the daytime sky.

01/21/26 10:48 PM #2852

David Frazer

Steve, I'll bring the little bowl if we are going bowling; you bring the large bowl. I have to bowl with my left arm now and my 8 year old grandson and 11 year old granddaughter both beat me. Can I use the gutter rails?

01/22/26 01:41 PM #2853

Happy New Month of February! How many plan to watch a TV channel tomorrow that has Ground Hog Day on over and over again; for 24 hours straight? Oh, and Bob, I thought you knew me well enough to know I'm just full of excuses. And besides, isn't living life an excuse?

hey guys, any of you have the pleasure of having Mr Van Peursem as a teacher?... my wife and I are going..

Gerald Carlton Van Peursem of Marcell, Minn., peacefully walked from his earthly home into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Jan. 14, 2026.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28 at the Woodstock Community Church in Woodstock, MN.. more details coming

Steve Hardy

I had Mr. Van Peursem for my 7th grade Shop class.  He emphasized the need for quality work, and his passion for the industrial trades was equalled by his love for teaching.  Those qualities were evidenced in his classroom interactions with his students.

We also enjoyed fellowship at the Park Grove Alliance Church, now called Hope Community Church of the C&MA.  Many of us young men looked up to him and Mr. Larry Thomson as exemplary models of Christion leadership.

It's been a blessing to have known them in this life, and, because of the saving Grace given us through Jesus Christ, we can look forward to seeing them in Heaven.

yeah, Steve H, Gerry was a great guy and teacher..

there was one day at his electricity class in 9th grade where he had all of us hold hands to form a circle

and 2 people in the circle touched one of the posts on a battery

we sure got a charge out of that.. haha

David Frazer

Hey Steves. I'm trying to remember him. Is he the shop teacher that made my dad mad? One shop teacher asked us to raise our hands if our dads or moms worked at 3M. Then were were asked to have our dad's buy sand paper from the 3M company store.I thought it was clever after my dad explained it. Who else taught Shop in Junior high?

02/06/26 09:59 PM #2859

Steve Hardy

Dave,

Mr. Prigee also taught shop class. He was a little easier grader, which made some students prefer him.

And Mr. Schulz.

02/07/26 07:05 PM #2860

David Frazer

To be honest, we had some good teachers. Mr. Prigee was alway good too! The only bad spot was probably me... and others who acted like kids! Can't do that anymore. I'm thankful for those who were patient with "some" of us.
