It's amazing what the teachers were able to get away with back then. Throwing kids into lockers, I was slapped across thd face for laughing, hit by gym teachers...and if your parents found out, it was always going to get worse.
Enjoy this spring like weather snd keep memories that made us laugh and enjoy the simple life!

I'm sorry to report the passing of another classmate.  Randy Tschida passed away this past October, around the 17th.  Currently no other details are available.

Special thanks to Marvin Schuster for letting us know.

I'm sorry about Randy. I'll wait for the news. Steve, I remember a lot of teachers had the hold; they also had the reset button slap. My reset button was on the back of my head. The button is still there, but I have learned to push it myself. I thank Jesus He gives us a reset button (1 John 1:9). By the way Bob, When I read your last post I couldn't remember when I wrote it. Seems you and I might be the same person. frown

Huh?? Dave and Bob the same person?? Okay, which one has the super power??

Steve K. I think Dave and I are like Clark Kent and Superman so bring out thr kryptonite and see who weakens!

David Frazer

Steve, that was a trick. To use the movie, Mystery Men, and the argument Ben Stiller had, we can't be the same person. I wear glasses (Clark Kent). "He takes them off." "That doesn't make sense, how can he see?" Bob is Superman. I could be the Perry White, I'm older than Mr. White now.

Dave, well if I'm superman then this body must have crashed into too many buildings and stopped too many speeding bullets and trains. Or, I'm eating too.much kryptonite (candy)!
My condolences to Randy Tscidas family with their loss.
Time to get together for a picnic this summer!!

Bob, I see your secret (The Greek word "kryptos" means "hidden" or "secret" used in the New Testament). We should write a book about your superpower and I won't tell how to make you powerless, even in the book. OK, I'll just make that available later in another book, the sequel. I'm sorry about Randy's passing. I was looking for his picture in the annuals, none. Today I was offered another 1971 annual (my brother's); I have one. Anyone want it?

Dave F, did you find those good ice fishing holes we used two years ago?
It will be all open water soon, if you find them put a big X on the spots so we can use them next year. wink

Happy Spring everyone!

My mom died last week at 88 years old. She had an article about a streaker at Park Sr. High. "The police said, "They wanted to nip this in the bud." Also included was Oltman Junior High School Handbook." It is a pamphlet book about 6 inches by 4 inches. Says you have to keep the book until you finish 9th grade or have to buy a new one. "Your home room teacher will check at the beginning and end of each year to see that you have your handbook." I still have mine! Does anyone remember them checking for the Handbook?

And, "Girls: Slacks will not be permitted for school wear, also jeans, levies, pedal pushers, and toreaders (Help me out on this one... "worn by Spanish bullfighters. These outfits are typically made of silk and adorned with gold or silver embroidery, featuring a jacket and pants that are often brightly colored and embellished with sequins"?) are prohibited. All girls must wear skirts and blouses or dresses to the Jr. High Classes."

Count your blessings. My parents have been gone for 40 and 45 years now.

I'd sure like to have more time with my dad.

It's not easy, time does heal. 🙏

So sorry for your loss!  My folks have been gone for 40 and 33 years.  Still think about them and wish I had one more day with them.  Prayers!

Thank you for the kind words! My mom was 14 when married; had Vicky at 15, Mike (passed) at 16, me at 17. Then Mark, Doug, and Dawn. My sister said in a lot of ways she was like a sister. Steve Hardy was like another son to them; he was treated with just as much teasing and picking on (the reason for mom keeping the man streaking article mentioned below). Having been counseling for years as a Pastor, Chaplain in the Army, Chaplain at North St. Paul Funeral home; and now licensed in MN (LPCC) and WI (LPC) as a counselor; I have seen all kinds of sadness with loss of loved ones; but there is a different kind of sorry when you know they are in heaven. We are losing classmates and does anyone else think they might be next. My dog Andre and I were talking about that while running. He now is older than me. .

Dave and Steve younboth have my sincere condolences on the losses of your mom's. Hold on to those special gifts of their memories and love they had for you. They remain with you in your hearts and soul's.
Dave, I don't remember getting any special book, but then again I carry my driver's license to help me to remember who I am. Ha! I am wishing everyone a healthy, fun and safe summer

Does anyone have a 1971 Oltman Junior High yearbook? If so, would you consider posting a pic of the page that has my photo?  Thanks.

David Frazer

Mike, I will look this weekend and see if I have the 1971 book. Thank you eveyone for all your kind thoughts. I'm sorry for all your losses too. Steve, how old was your mother? I know we are almost all in the same age group of losing our parents, uncles, and aunts. I have been thinking how can I find money to fly to all the family funerals when they come. So, we retire so we can attend funerals, and so we can take naps because we don't sleep well through the night? Bob, we should get together. My mom graduated 8th grade, but her class invited her to their graduation get-togethers. She enjoyed them.

Michael, hope this is what you wanted. If you want the whole page I would have to explain that I did not write the words pointing to Debbie b. She wrote the words for both pictures. Funny, we live in a time when interpretation has to be worked hard at because we have transferred interpretation from the listener working to interpret speaker. Now "Woke" has people needing the interpretation delivered perfectly. Isn't the new way of interpretation against the statement, "Innocent until proven guilty?" For clarification or unclarification (it is a tough read): Validity of interpretation E.D. Hirsh

Dave, you might have something there about interpretation.. and of course, this kind of message or texting or Facebook all are missing the facial expressions and tone that make communication complete.. everyone have fun in the snow

Thanks Dave!  That's great.  Is that Oltman 71?  Don't worry about comments from 55 years ago.  Now, at the risk of being a pest, you wouldn't happen to have yearbooks from Park Junior High, would you?   If so, perhaps snap the pages with my pics from 8th and 7th grade.  Thanks again.   I obviously regret not getting the junior high yearbooks back in the day.
