drama club Posted Sunday, January 31, 2010 05:36 PM Does anyone remember some of the productions of the NEHI Drama Club? There were several during those years. One big one was B_______________. Fill in the blanks. Lots of great music in that one. |

RE: drama club Posted Thursday, February 4, 2010 02:30 PM Being in Choir & Gondoliers, Bye Bye Birdie was my favorite to be in!! We had a ball doing it and our production was actually pretty top rate -- great, fun story -- great singing AND acting -- great set design and crew -- one of my all-time favorite memories.....thanks for reminding me. It's amazing how our memories can take us back in an instant as though we are still there --- it actually feels pretty good. |

RE: drama club Posted Friday, February 5, 2010 06:45 PM I can still remember most of the songs from that musical. "Why can't kids be like we were, perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today?" "Put on a happy face!" What a great time! There was another production we did too. It involved a tiny nation declaring war on the US and then asking for aid when it surrendered. It was a short little play. Can't remember the name of that one. Anyone out there got any ideas? I have hit a brick wall! |

RE: drama club Posted Friday, February 5, 2010 06:53 PM Actually, I was in that one! Remember, there are no small roles, only small actors! |

RE: drama club Posted Friday, February 5, 2010 07:17 PM Okay, that was The Mouse That Roared. Funny!! I think it originally starred, in the film maybe, Peter Sellers ?? It was silly but so much fun! Yes, no small parts just small actors. :-) |

RE: drama club Posted Wednesday, February 10, 2010 01:45 PM Robert Challener ran the drama department, and Dale Stonecipher did all the choral / music, etc. My sister Dona (class of '64) and I are still in touch with Mr. "C" and he's still going strong... living in Connecticut, I think. I've sent him a few pictures of my community theatre productions over the years and he always replies. He actually wrote a book about "Theatre in the Round". He was very innovative for a high school teacher. Remember he staged arena-productions with about 100 seats ON THE auditorium stage, and the playing area was only about 10x20-feet wide. The first-row of audience was only about 2-feet away from the actors. Another British comedy we did was "SEE HOW THEY RUN" .. about a Vicar and his American wife. I started my career as a character actress playing Miss Skillon ! David Rupprecht (class of '66?) was in our drama classes... and went on to a pretty successful TV career. |

RE: drama club Posted Wednesday, February 10, 2010 01:49 PM We had quite a few talented classmates and near-classmates who went on to careers or, avocations, in the biz. Who else can we name? |

RE: drama club Posted Wednesday, February 10, 2010 02:57 PM OMG, now the names become familiar. My brain cells had shut down there for awhile. Yes I do remember David. I would ocassionally see his name on TV but haven't for sometime now. I had forgot about the other notable production. Being involved that senior year in a small way with the Drama Club was the best of time. I believe it was the beginning of curing me of my shyness back then. Having to get up on a stage in front of a crowd was scary but I survived it. Could face most anything after that. HA HA! |

RE: drama club Posted Wednesday, February 10, 2010 03:27 PM Don't forget Tom Stovall, I'm not sure what all he did, but I know he was involved in the movie Silkwood. |
