Hyannis – Donald C. Bogardus, 78, of Hyannis, died June 8, 2011, at the McCarthy Care Center in East Sandwich after a brief illness.
Born in Stamford, Conn., he was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor (Thompson) Bogardus. After graduating from Stamford High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Bogardus was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. Most recently, he had worked at the Barnstable General Store.
He is survived by a son, Craig; a daughter, Donna; a sister, Ann Morley of West Dennis; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Interment will be private.
