Valverdina "Val" Valverdina "Val" Lux, 75, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Norbet C. Lux, passed away on Thursday, (March 19, 2009), at St. Joseph's Manor. Born and raised in the Springdale section of Stamford, she had been a resident of Fairfield for 50 years. Val was a graduate from the Danbury State Teacher's College in 1955 and worked as a school teacher in East Hartford and Stamford. A founding member in 1963, she became involved with the Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities (CACLD), when her oldest child had trouble learning. Val was involved in the day-to-day operation of the CACLD organization as the recording secretary, program chairwoman and president. In 1987, she stepped into a role as the assistant to the executive director and was the CACLD's in-house advocate. She also served on the state AD/HD Task Force and Transition Task Force. In honor of Val, a gift of books of learning disabilities, dyslexia, AD/HD, were provided to her hometown library to provide a lasting legacy of her dedication. Val's memory will be cherished by her family including her six children, Margaret Drury, and her husband, Stephen, of Shelton, Christopher Lux, of Trumbull, David Lux, of Fairfield, Matthew Lux, and his wife, Belinda, of Western Australia, Antonia Nelson, and her husband, Todd, of Monroe, and Kathleen Lux-Scimone, and her husband, Kurt, of South Windsor; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Sara, Emma, Kayleigh, Verity, Sean and Isabella; brothers and sisters, Ralph DeAngelis, of Springdale; Patricia Mucci, of Norwalk, and Nicholas DeAngelis, formerly of LaKeville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on TODAY, from 3-7 p.m. in The Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
