Patricia Pontbriant, the tiny woman who leaves behind enormous holes in our hearts, died on Thursday, November 5, 2015 after bravely battling many illnesses. She left this Earth peacefully and surrounded by many of her favorite people.
Pat, as she preferred to be called, was born on August 27, 1933 in Stamford, CT. to Mary and Charles Haggerty. She and her beloved sister Eileen grew up together in Stamford. In 1959 Pat married Donald Pontbriant, and for over 50 years they made their home in a little red house in Norwalk, CT. Pat was a fiercely protective mother to Ken, Janine and Denise and was perennially involved in their various activities. She was a devoted grandmother to Padraic, Lauren and Renee, all with whom she shared a very close bond. In addition to tending to her family, Pat was also a registered nurse providing excellent care at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stamford, CT and later at Norwalk High School. She is remembered fondly by many Norwalk students and staff members alike.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all who have offered words of kindness and support. A celebration of Pat's life will be announced at a later date. Donations in Pat's memory may be made to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090-6231.
The Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street has been entrusted with arrangements. Please visit www.norwalkfh.com for more information.
