WILLIAM J. MALONEY With deep sadness we announce the passing of William Joseph Maloney on May 11, 2009 at the age of 75. Beloved husband for 53 years of Marie Agostino Maloney, Bill as he was known, was a life long Stamford resident. Born on December 2, 1933, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Whalen) Maloney. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1951, attended Pace College and graduated from the Trust School of Northwestern University. He served in active duty for the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and in the Reserves until 1961. Bill joined the Stamford Fidelity Bank in 1956 and became a highly respected Investment Banker throughout his 40 year career. Through the many bank acquisitions, he ultimately retired as a Vice President of Bank of America in 1996. He was actively involved in the community as a Coach, Director and Treasurer of the Stamford Babe Ruth Baseball League for many years. Though highly regarded for his professional career, he will be remembered most as the loving husband, father and grandfather who was happiest when surrounded by his family. An avid fan of all sports, he was a lifelong Mets and Giants fan. Bill was devoted to his wife Marie, his four children and five grandchildren and his entire life enjoyment was about the extremely close family unit that we all shared with him. He is survived by his wife Marie Agostino Maloney, his two sons William J. Maloney III and James S. Maloney all of Stamford. His two daughters Lisa Marie Solecki and husband Michael of South Glastonbury, CT and Kristina Lee Carboni and husband John of Stamford. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Megan Marie DeGuisto of Stamford, Jenna Marie Solecki, Robert Michael Solecki, Ryan William Solecki and Joelle Alexandra Solecki all of South Glastonbury, CT. His two sisters Mary White of New Port Richey, Florida and Eileen Greco of Safety Harbor, Florida. Two brothers in law Frank Agostino (Margaret), Captain Richard Agostino (Patricia) and sister in law Mrs. John (Betty) Coughlin all of Stamford. He is also survived by three step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and family friends. Relatives and friends will be received at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. A Christian mass will be celebrated at 10 am at St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT on Thursday, May 14, 2009. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Mausoleum, Putnam/St. Mary Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT.
