Shirley M. Hrywna, 79, of Stamford, CT, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Stamford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on November 12, 1933, in Stamford. She was daughter of the late John and Helen (Kostick) Odomirok. She married her beloved husband Paul, September 14, 1957.
Shirley graduated from Stamford High School in 1951. Her career included being Secretary to the president of numerous companies, including a structural engineering firm and at the City of Stamford, Tax Assessors office. She was active in many community activities; was secretary of St. Mary's Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Parish Council and many other committees. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Hrywna; her brother, John Odomirok and his wife, Suzanne; a nephew, Timothy Peterson and his partner, Richard Gerrig; a niece, Kathleen Hoffman, her husband David and their children, Caroline, Emma, and John; her aunt Marion Odomirok; her brother-in-laws, Samuel Hrywna; and Andrew Hrywna and his wife Emilia.
Family will receive relatives and friends at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT on Tuesday, February 12th from 4pm to 8pm with a Panahita service at 7pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 13th at 10am at the St. Mary Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, 141 Den Road, in Stamford, CT. Interment will be at the Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, in Stamford, CT.
