Walter J Quinn, 80, of Stamford, CT and later Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on February 7, 2015. Walter was born one of four children to Frances and Martin Quinn. He graduated Stamford High School and he served honorably in the Korean Conflict and Occupied Japan in the Air Force. He returned to the U.S. and met and married the love of his life Mary Lou Conlan of Greenwich, CT and proceeded to father and raise 10 children prior to his retirement. Walter worked for several years as a letter carrier for the Post Office in Greenwich and as the president of Branch 759 of the Letter Carrier Union in Greenwich. An avid sports fan he enjoyed watching his beloved New York Giants, Rangers, and Mets. Walter is predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Lou, his daughters Marion McMahon, Tara Gleason, and Maura Jean. Walter is survived by his children Susan Matsen (Douglas), Brian Quinn (Karen), Colleen Reardon, Nancy Ryan (Michael), Keith Quinn (Christine), Kelly Costanzo (Steve), and Kerry Quinn (Mike) and sons-in-law Scott McMahon and Sean Gleason. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Castiglione Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 4-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10 am at St. Mary's Church 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich, CT.
