John "Jack" J. Thompson, lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2017.  He was the son of the late Irene A. Sheridan and Charles H. Thompson, Sr.Jack graduated from Stamford High School in 1951 before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served active duty for four years in support of the Korean Conflict.  He spent 45 years as an established Painting Contractor and was an avid NY Yankee fan and sports enthusiast since 1938.  He also enjoyed reading military history, taking long walks and spending time with his family and friends.JJack is predeceased by his mother and father, brother Charles H. Thompson Jr., sisters Frances I. Hickey, Edith "Peggy" M. Bezok, Charlotte S. Holoubek, and Jane M. Horton.Left to cherish his memory is his former wife and good friend, Lola Thompson, their three children; Doreen Reichard, Mark Thompson, and Susan Thompson, former wife and friend, Holly Thompson and their two daughters; Dawn Isch and Danielle Letourneau, his eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, Luke James, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.Jack's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10am at The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford, CT 06902.  The interment will follow mass at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien, CT 06820.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to: Veterans of Foreign War, Springdale Post 9617, PO Box 4712, Stamford, CT 06907.
