JEAN BELLAIRS STOBBIE, 76, of Stamford, passed away on March 16, 2010 in the loving company of her family. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to Jack Stobbie, and loving daughter of the late Catherine and Clement Bellairs. She was the proud mother to five children: Kathleen Cummings of Seattle, WA, John Stobbie (Kim) of Gainesville, FL, Brian Stobbie (Mercedes) of Darien, Rachel Tyrrell (Lynn) of Stamford, and Tim Stobbie of Tampa, FL. She was the doting grandmother to eleven grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Jack Bellairs (Peggy) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Mary Coyle. While raising her children, Jean pursued a career in nursing. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for 25 years as a labor and delivery nurse. Jean was a dedicated professional who loved her nursing career both in Stamford and then later in Florida. Jean and Jack enjoyed 18 wonderful years of retirement in Bradenton, FL. She enjoyed entertaining for her friends and family, and was an avid tennis player. Jean's true passion in life was being with her family. She was the consummate grandmother who loved spoiling her eleven grandchildren. She became the intricate part of all our lives and the center of our family. She was our cheerleader whose support and presence will be missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. Leo's Church, Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford. In honor of Jean and in lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for someone struggling with cancer.
