ROSE OCCULTO, 75, a long time resident of Stamford and recently of Shelton, passed away on Wednesday October 29, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Rose was the devoted wife of the late Vito Occulto, graduated from Stamford High School and was a member of the Merry Mermaids Club. A long time employee, Rose retired from General Electric as an Investment Librarian. Rose's favorite pastime includes spending time with her friends and family. She was an avid reader, walker, card player and a huge Yankee's fan. She was active in her church and a member of the Rosary Society. Rose is survived by her children, daughter Darci Boyce and husband Bill of Fairfield, sons Jay Occulto of Norwalk, Ken Occulto and wife Sheryl of Shelton, Stuart Occulto and wife Caryn of Fort Edward, NY and daughter Mary Thornley and husband Chris of Monroe. Survivors also include her adored grandchildren Sherri, Karla, Amanda and Jake; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was the youngest of 7 children born to the late Bernard and Anna Zarembski. She was predeceased by brothers Bernard and Julius, and is survived by brothers Thomas and Stanley, and sisters Anita Thomas and Helen Galasso. Friends may call on Sunday November 2nd, 2008 from 3 to 7 pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford, following a Mass of Christian burial to be held Monday November 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Shelton. Donations may be made in her name to Swim Across the Sound, c/o St. Vincent's Medical Center, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
