Betsy-Ann O'Connell
Betsy-Ann (Booker) Mariano O'Connell passed away on November 29, 2018 at the Stamford Hospital. She was born at home on Plymouth Rd. in the Glenbrook section of Stamford on July 8, 1933 to Raymond P. Booker Sr. and Alice (Robertson) Booker. Betsy was a lifelong Stamford resident and a graduate of the Stamford High School class of 1951. Betsy worked as a telephone operator for Southern New England Telephone Co., First National Supermarket, Richard Morris Excavating Co., Siladi's Pharmacy and later Walgreens. As a creative dressmaker she sewed and designed wedding gowns for many local women. She was also known throughout Stamford for the quality crafts she donated to the Turn of River Presbyterian Church Holly Fair for over 30 years. Betsy's other hobbies included duckpin bowling and watching sports on TV. She was an avid Yankees fan.
Betsy was the widow of Alfredo P. Mariano and Daniel E. O'Connell. She was predeceased by her grandson Justin Mariano.
She leaves behind her two sons, Frederick Mariano (Barbara) of Shelton, CT and Raymond Mariano of Stamford; grandchildren, Laura Mariano of Somerville, MA and Christian Mariano of Shelton, CT; and a great-grandson, Justin Mariano, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, brother, Raymond Booker of Norwich, CT and sisters, Sara D'Amato of Cheshire, CT and Leslie Allaire of Shelton.
Betsy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as very special in-laws, Nick and Angie (Mariano) Paidas of Madison, CT.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5th from 4-7 p.m. at Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT, 06905. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 6th at 11 a.m. at the Turn of River Presbyterian Church, 49 Turn of River Rd., Stamford, CT 06905. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Ave., Stamford.
