Gloria Jean Bosses Slater, AGE: 82 • Seaford

Gloria Jean Bosses Slater, age 82, of Seaford, DE passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 due to complications from pneumonia. Gloria was born April 9, 1933 to Hungarian immigrants. She was the 3rd of 4 children. She was raised in Stamford, CT. After graduating high school she served in the Women's Army Corp. She worked as a secretary for most of her career. She retired from Pillsbury in Federalsburg MD. She was then the Parish Secretary for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, where she was a Pastoral Care Minister and Eucharistic Minister. She also was a volunteer at the Methodist Manor House thrift shop. She loved birds and kept many feeders in her yard. She also loved to crochet gifts for friends and family and prayer shawls for the sick of Our Lady of Lourdes. She loved to travel, going to Hawaii several times, Europe, Alaska, Caribbean Cruises and road trips around the United States. She also loved to read, cook and bake.

Her husband of 34 years, G. Barry Slater died in 2013. She is survived by her 3 children, Karen Manso, Mark VanDuser and Dulana Smith, her step-children, George "GR" Slater and Robin L. Schroeder, grandchildren, Michael Manso, Anthony Manso, Wesley VanDuser, Tyler VanDuser, David Harley Smith, Sarah Herrman, Rheanna Schroeder, Jamilyn Schroeder and George R. Schroeder and 1 great-grandchild, Parker B. Manso and her beloved sister, Julia Bosses Kaye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 22nd at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 532 Stein Hwy, Seaford. Friends may call at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford on Friday evening from 6 to 8pm. Burial will be in Our lady of Lourdes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, P O Box 719, Seaford, DE 19973 or Savethemanatee.org.
