Delia Truglia, 83, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Stamford on April 21, 1933 to the late Angelo and Angelina Pavia Ricciardi.
Delia was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1951.It was there that she met the love of her life and husband of sixty one years Anthony Truglia. Together they raised three wonderful sons and dedicated their lives to family and friends. Delia's greatest joy was watching her sons and grandchildren play sports. She loved baseball, the New York Yankees and the American Flag. While Delia loved her time working at JC Penny, she also enjoyed volunteering as a teachers aid for her sons and later her grandchildren. Delia hosted many parties for the family and the boys sports teams. There was always an abundance of pasta, pizza frita and the best apple pie.
Later in life, Delia and Tony enjoyed spending their winters in Boca Raton, FL. There they enjoyed daily walks on Deefield Beach and spending time with Delia's family and numerous friends.Delia was a gentle soul, always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in the memories of our beautiful life spent together as a family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty one years, Anthony Truglia of Stamford, her loving sons Anthony J Truglia and his wife Anna, Joseph Truglia and Dennis Truglia and his wife Alane, all of Stamford, her grandchildren Robert Truglia of NYC, Jaclyn Truglia, Olivia Truglia and Natalie Truglia, all of Stamford, and a daughter in law Patty Truglia. She is also survived by her siblings Mario Ricciardi of FL, Joseph Ricciardi and his wife Joy of FL, Jean "Jenny" Lampros of Norwalk and Carol Romaniello of FL; sister in laws Claudia Toscano, Rose Santorella and brother in law Joseph Truglia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Delia was predeceased by her brother in law Lucian Romaniello.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 9:20 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Delia's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd, Ste 4B, Southington, CT 06489
