Margaret (Midge) A. Jones Campana, passed away quietly in her sleep on February 20, 2021. Margaret was born in Poultney, VT on March 22, 1933 to the late John Jones and Margaret (Griffith) Jones. She was 87 years old at the time of her passing. Midge was well known as the beloved secretary at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford where she worked for 40 years. Midge originally attended a one-room schoolhouse in Vermont. She attended Stamford schools after moving to Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School. Midge married Daniel Campana in 1955 and was married for 65 years until his recent passing (in May of 2020). Midge converted to Catholicism and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church. Midge was known for her kind and generous heart and loving nature. She brightened every room with her sparkling blue eyes, infectious smile and sense of humor. She touched the heart of everyone she met and will be missed by all who knew her.
Midge was survived by her children: Steven Campana and wife Shannon of Stamford, Donald Campana and wife Michele Salatino of New Canaan, Karen McCarthy and husband Peter McCarthy of Thousand Oaks, CA, and her nephew Edward Jones (whom she raised) and wife Leslie of Bridgeport; her beloved grandchildren: Caitlin and husband Kelly Shortell, Daniel Campana, Chelsea Campana, Dylan McCarthy, Sheridan Salatino, Lily Jones, and Anna Jones; sister Kay (Jones) Gerstenmaier; sister-in-law Gloria (Campana) Kennedy, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Campana and parents John and Margaret and 5 siblings: John, Hugh, Harold, Dick and Morris.
Due to COVID restrictions, a funeral mass was not held at the time of her passing, but a Memorial Mass for both Midge and Daniel will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, June 25th at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Sacred Heart Church of Stamford, CT or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
