NINA TURNBULL a Stamford resident since 1939, died suddenly on July 30, 2008 at 9:24 PM. Born March 14, 1933 in Winchendon, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Geraldine M. Bump. She retired as Clerk of the Stamford Probate Court where she worked for ten years. In honor of her retirement, Mayor Dannel P. Malloy proclaimed May 21, 1999 Nina Turnbull Day. She was previously employed by the late Edward J. Frattaroli, Attorney-at-law and by the Law Department of the City of Stamford. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert R. Turnbull of Stamford; a son, Thomas R. Slocum of Rocky Mount, NC; a daughter, Elaine P. Slocum of Stamford; and three grandchildren, Megan L. Slocum of Stamford; Jennifer A. Slocum of Raleigh, NC; and Michael E. Slocum of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by four stepchildren and five step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ray R. Slocum, Jr.; and a brother, Ralph E. Bump. Calling hours will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Sunday, August 3 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 4 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 628 Main Street, Stamford. Interment will be private.
