Shirley F. (Wood) (Overthrow) Rose, age 77 of Woodbury, died on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Glen Hill Healthcare Danbury. Born August 31, 1933 in Stamford, widow of the late Sheriff Roger Rose and widow of the late Curtis Overthrow, Mrs. Rose worked for many years at NORCO, Inc. in Ridgefield, as a secretary and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Shirley and Roger were American History enthusiasts and attended Civil War re-enactments. She enjoyed spending time attending luncheons with her friends at Spruce Bank Farms. Shirley is survived by her brother, Bill Wood, her sons David (and his wife, Yvette), Keith (and Sharon), Curt (and his wife, Karen), also daughters Judy Overthrow (and John Gibney), Kathy (Overthrow) and husband Eric Smith, grandchildren Dale, Becky, Jason, Bryan, Haley and great-grandson, Joseph along with several nieces, nephews and friends. The family thanks the entire staff at Glen Hill for their care. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 16, at 6 p.m. at Spruce Bank Farms located at 823 Main St. South, Woodbury. Burial will be held privately in the Center Cemetery, Bethel. Memorial contributions may be made to: Spruce Bank Farm,823 Main Street South, Woodbury CT 06798.
