On Feb. 19, 2019, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Joan Millicent Bruyere of Coronado passed away at the age of 85.
Joan was born to Joseph P. Choyke and Silvia Von Charles Byrnes Choyke, June 14, 1933 in New York City. She was raised in Stamford, Connecticut and went on to attend Mary Washington College. While in college she met her first husband and the father of her three sons, Captain Thomas E Bruyere, (Retired), a plebe at the United States Naval Academy.
She was a curious woman fascinated with the world, its history, and art, which drove her great passions for traveling, reading, conversation and absolutely having a great time wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by "Joe D," Lieutenant Joseph D DiMartino, (Retired), her second-half of life partner. She is survived by her children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family is planning a celebration of life in June, 2019.
