50 years ago yesterday (Jan 20, 1969) many of us were in Washington, DC, marching in Richard Millhouse Nixon's first inauguration parade. It was a bitterly cold day (not unlike today in southern VA) and many of us were suffering from food poisoning that we had picked up at Quantico Marine Base the night before. I remember trying to keep rank and file, play the marches and fanfare and avoid the horse poop along the way. Jim Calabrese got us all through that day. He taught us what excellence was and helped us stay focused. A lot has changed in 50 years; most of all us, but may Greyhound Grenadier spirit continue as long as we do! Karl Stauber
