
WENONA — George E. Gula, 56, of Wenona, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, in Wenona.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wenona. The Rev. John Verrier of St. Mary’s Church in Metamora will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wenona. Pallbearers will be Michael, Mark, Matthew, Ken and Gary Gula and Brian Kelly.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Born Nov. 18, 1947 in Streator, he was the son of George and Grace (Elias) Gula. He married Barbara Divora on Sept. 8, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Streator; daughters, Julie and Jamie Gula, both of Wenona, and Jennifer Gula of Alexandria, Va.; sons, Michael, Mark and Matthew Gula of Wenona; sisters, Jan Hrasch, Dianne (Mrs. Patrick) Kelly, Tina Black and Barb (Mrs. Brian) Wilson, all of Streator; and brothers, Ken (Jean) Gula of Streator and Gary (Barbie) Gula of St. Joseph.
He served with the United States Army in Germany in the late 1960s.
He worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Streator until retiring.
