I met Ron when I was about 8 or 9 years old. We grew up in the Housing Project or (Evans Hights). We went to school from 2nd- threw our Junior year in High School. Ron grew up with epilepsy as a young boy and had it most of his life. By the time he was 17, he dropped out of High School to join the Navy. Spent about 18 years in the Navy. He did not have any epileptic seizers while in the Navy. When he got out of the Navy he came back to Streator to live. At one time he was the Commandeer of the Streator VFW. The last time I seen him was at Camalot Manor(Parker Nursing) Home in 2006. He lost one of his legs from diabetes and started to have epilepsy again. I am not sure what year he died but I know he is buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Joliet, Il. Rest in Peace my Friend.
I really can't say that I remember Ron, but I wish he had been at our reunion so I could have given him a great, big hug. The amazing job Sherry did in creating the website for Class of '66 spotlighted each of our classmates. We were an amazing group at a very special place at a very special time. Learning what so many of us have done in the past 50 years confirms my belief there was some special alighnment of the stars back in the late 1940s. We are all so much more amazing people because of those around us in our most formative years of 1962-1966. RIP Ron. You made a difference. We thank you for it. Pat Dordan Gilley
