John M. Defenbuagh

TREATOR — John M. Deffenbaugh, 70, of Streator, passed away Monday, April 9, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. The Rev. Father Raymond Guthrie will officiate. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born Dec. 25, 1947, in Streator, he was the son of Harry “Bud” and Julia (Laubhan) Deffenbaugh.

He is survived by sisters, Barbara (Robert) Cherveny, of Roanoke, and Carolyn Wayman, of Pontiac; a brother, Richard Deffenbaugh, of Streator; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Donald Wayman.

Born and raised in Streator, he attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served in Guam and the Philippines.
