Ralph M. "Strawberry" Gwaltney, 73 of Streator passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Heritage Health, Streator.
Ralph was born February 7, 1948 in Streator, a son of Ralph H. and Mary Elizabeth (Garland) Gwaltney.
He is survived by a son, Matthew (Maria) Gwaltney of Shorewood; a granddaughter, Ella Gwaltney; a brother, Walter (Maria) Gwaltney of Martinton, IL; and a sister, Patricia Lamagno of San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Garland Gwaltney; and a sister, Mary Ellen Wood.
Ralph had retired out of the Laborers Local #393 in Marseilles.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, September 10, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.

What I remember most vividly about Ralph in high school was that he was quiet and a bit shy and he hated it when Louie Magerski would adress him as "my strawberry blond" in history class, causing Ralph's face to turn as red as his hair. Sorry to lose another good classmate.
