Beth Carter (Dawson)

Thank you Carolyn!!

wow! Don't you wish we could all go visit her and tell her how much we appreciate what she did for us. I bet she knows now.

I wish I had you at my house all the time to help me with all my computer issues. As I said earlier...my printer is out of ink and I don't even know what to go buy or can't remember to ask Roddy to do it for me.

Oh, about the senior day video....remember that I won't be going home until later this month to look for it. I would ask my mom, but b/c of the mess our house is in and all that she is doing with it (after the tornado hit, my parents almost burned their house down..I'll explain that later)I just don't want to ask her to rummage through my room to find it....she has a mess on her hands.

Tabitha, our prayers go out to your family. I can only imagine how you all feel.

That was a GREAT read on Ms. Southall. Guys this is a great reminder to each of us to treasure what we have, the people we are around each and every day, and in general, the lives we are blessed with. None of us knew what she had gone through, but what a tough resilient women.

Tricia, tell Darren we will be praying for his parents. I know exactly what he is going through, as I take care of my mother as well. I mentioned to Kirk one day that it seems strange that our parents take care of us as we grow up, then once we grow up we take care of them. I wouldn't have it any other way, but it is extremely taxing and emotionally draining.

Jason, did Lori have a good b-Day?

Saranie, you never answered about your parents? How are they? How is Ryan and Brent?

01/07/08 12:30 PM #230

Tricia Orlicek (Brown)

Scott-thanks for the prayers. Where is your mother now? I haven't heard anything about her lately. You are right about taking care of your parents but the Lord has shown me what a blessing it really is to be able to Honor your parents by repaying them for taking care of you. I am blessed that my own mom has had very good health. She and I talk everyday and I will cherish every moment I get to spend with her here on this Earth. Oh by the way, you need to get the DVD of a sermon that Louie Giglio did on How Great is Our God. It is the most awesome sermon I have heard on creation. I bought my copy at Mardel's. How anyone can think we came from monkey's is beyond me. Of course I am a "scientist" of sorts and I teach the human body everyday. We are a walking miracle and don't even realize it!!

Tabitha- I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers girl. May God give your family comfort and peace and ease the pain.

Carolyn- thank you so much for posting that article. I really appreciate it. I have added it to the side menu so that it does not get lost in the shuffle.

Carolyn Tanksley (Wall)

That is a good idea. I went and searched for her obituary also. She died on January 15th of this year. I will add that to the page if you want also.

Beth-

If you ever get in a fix and need assistance just give me a call. Everyone else does, so it is not a big deal. I actually found something I am good at and it comes pretty easy.

Tricia..she is in DeWitt, can't walk, talk, feed herself. We had a feeding tube put in in March. She was losing weight rapidly, constant de-hydration, which would also give her severe UTI's. She is not doing well, and it seems as if every day there is something new in regards to her health. I don't get to go down there much, as I travel all the time for work, but her sister, and my grandmother both go out there every day to see her. It really is something that I deal with on a day to day basis, as I was extremely close to her. What REALLY sucks is, such as last night, when Brady, my 4 year old, asked me why Debi-Debi can't talk. Or, why won't she talk to us, etc...

So are you teaching now? Did I read that?

01/07/08 03:18 PM #235

Tricia Orlicek (Brown)

Scott- I am sorry to hear that your mom isn't any better. That's tough when your children don't understand why things are the way the are. I was blessed to get to know all of my grandparents and have alot of great memories of them. Yes, I am teaching now. It is quite an experience. I asked Ms. Ferguson one day if we were that bad and she said we were not disrespectful like the kids are today. I just start out the first couple of weeks as a mean teacher and then let my guard down as we go on. It seems to work. I think my height is to my advantage as well. I don't let them know what a real chicken I am. My mom and I talk about you from time to time. You know she was always crazy about you. I will tell her I talked to you on the forum. She'll be glad you are doing well.

01/07/08 04:00 PM #236

Scott Robnett

Yep, I love your mom to death. I have got to come sit in on one of your classes, and see the "MEAN" Mrs. Brown! I don't see you being too mean. Tell Ms. Ferguson I said hello when you see her? Give your mom my best.

Beth Carter (Dawson)

I have to say I am becoming addicted to this site. I have been out this afternoon, and couldn't wait to come read and catch up.
I love how everyone is talking. Don't you wish we could all just sit in one big room and visit? I bet we could go for days. Hopefully we will be able to do alot of that at our reunion.

Carolyn
I may just take you up on your offer. I am NOT computer savvy.

Scott
your new pics are precious. I think your first two are mini Scott's. The verdict is still out on Jackson....I can't tell about him yet.

Tabitha
I am so sorry for you and your families loss. I hate hearing about that. How old were your babies?
I'm glad your 12 year old had a good birthday. I love the idea of giving a gift to the less fortunate. What a great life lesson

Tricia
I did not know you taught. I bet your a great teacher. My little sister is a teacher as well and she IS MEAN. I get scared sometimes if I'm in her class and then I start laughing because I can't believe how tough she is....you have to be that way these days. She teaches here in Memphis and was in a really rough inner city school for awhile....she had to be tough.
Is the Louie Giglio sermon about laminin? I love that! How perfect is that!

Alright...I'm going to do pilates really fast before I go to bunco. Roddy came home early and took the kids to a movie. I love a girls night out.....although they are not quite the same as they used to be back in high school.

Everyone check out our snowwoman me and the boys made this year on my profile.

01/07/08 10:44 PM #239

Tricia Orlicek (Brown)

Beth- Yes it is on Laminin. That is truly an amazing revelation. I just love it when science proves there is a God and He loves us. At least it does to me!!!

Jason- love the snow woman. I am jealous!!

01/07/08 11:10 PM #240

Beth Carter (Dawson)

Tricia
Everyone should read that article or whatever it was. Maybe I'll figure out how to post it here.

Jason
I love your snowlady. Your a cool daddy!!

Ashley
I keep forgetting to tell you that Dave Ramsey is dead to us now.....as far as my "new" car goes anyway!! ha

02/07/08 12:24 AM #241

Stephen Saranie

Sorry Scott. Sometimes I read through these so quick and then I get distracted and don't reply when I should. Mom and Dad are doing great. Mom still works for Dr. Smith here in town. Ryan is a fireman here and him and dad started a lawncare company about 10 years ago. They are probably the biggest lawncare company around here. I think they do some work for Lauren's husband. Brent is a diver. He goes all over the U.S. and does just about anything that can be done under water. He had a little girl in April. He does a lot of work in the gulf for oil companies, but right now he is in Colorado working on a dam. He is supposed to go to China in August.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I asked Don Ho about her a few weeks ago. He told me she was in DeWitt. I'll never forget her and George going to all of those football games when we played ball @ UCA. Man, those were some trips! Playing in 0 degree weather and the snow in Wilberforce, Ohio for a national championship (Dang it was cold. It was cold that day you caught that pass in Weatherford OK, hell of a catch in the snow)or the 110 degree heat in Carrolton, Georgia our parents were always there. Those long Kansas bus trips and staying in dives in east Texas. Remember that place we stayed @ that one time when we played East Texas? Man that was your classic Texas dive.Red shag carpet. Or the second time we were in Ohio and all of the lineman went and bought all of the plus size pantyhose from that K-Mart across the parking lot. I froze my A$$ off the year before, was'nt going to do it again. That was before Under Armour. That was a lot of fun. Glad we did it. I'll keep your mom in my prayers.

Hey Tabitha, I am sorry to hear about your cousins tragedy, I will pray for you and your family.

Tricia, I am very sorry about you in-laws. I have always enjoyed talking to your father-in-law. I remember him telling me about going to the prison as a salesman years ago. He was telling me how the prisoners actually used to run the prison and carry guns and they were real tough.

Scott, I'm sorry about your Mom. I lost my Dad in 2005. It has been almost 3 years and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him and miss him.

I apreciate everyones prayers, I hope we all make it to the reunion this next year. It will be so good to see everybody together. See you guys later.

02/07/08 07:43 AM #243

Ashley Crosby (Adams)

Beth that is so funny. I read that and thought he was really dead for a second! I know it is like you hold your ears and say " LA, LA,LA, LA" while you sign away.

I think you are headed out soon for a vacation. Have a great time and I know your baby boy is headed to school this year, right?!

Scott-Let me know about the bday thing. Is it the 19 or something. Anyway we still have you guys booked that day so let us know if you are coming.

Lauren-I thought about you for two days. Where did you used to go to camp and maybe you were a counselor for years?? Was is it Kanakuk?(sp?) Let me know if it is.

Wesley-Glad to hear from you in the posts. I am glad you reached out to David while in Iraq..that was thoughtful...see you at the reunion.

Tabitha-Wow I just read your post. I am so sorry for your family. I will pray for them and you!! I know this will be tough for everyone. I pray that you all feel God's presence and mercy!!!!!

I want to wish you a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" early bc I am leaving and will not be by a computer on that special day! Enjoy the fireworks...wow God gives you a light show in the sky each year, huh!!

02/07/08 08:05 AM #244

Lauren Hartz (Clark)

Ashley- No, it was Timberlake and it no longer exists. Camp is a wonderful thing for kids though. I would encourage any parent to send their child. I do know that Mary Nina send her boys to Winnamaka and they love it!

02/07/08 08:26 AM #245

Carolyn Tanksley (Wall)

Beth I agree with you. This forum has become part of my daily routine. When I come to work in the morning, I log on and catch up with what has last been posted and keep it open all day and refresh the screen to see who has been on today.

02/07/08 08:56 AM #246

Ashley Crosby (Adams)

Lauren and Everyone-I went with a friend to pick her kids up at Kannakuk yesterday and I thought about how you used to always go to camp and help all those kids.(I went to Brookhill.) I really admired those kids that were counselors, and thought I remembered that you did that. I will for sure send my kids somewhere when they are older...hate to hear that Timberlake is closed.

Yesterday I was so blessed bc I got to hear Joe White speak at Kanakuk.... he is a big friend and partner with Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family. He was talking to all the families and said that if you are running against the wind with your family...meaning monitoring your kids tv, not letting them see PG-13 and R rated movies, having the computer in the kitchen, not letting them date until they have the maturity, teaching them God's word...etc I could go on and on....he said STAY STRONG, even when you are the ONLY parent..bc he has run these 13 camps(huge camps) for something like 30 years(I think) and he said that the pressures for children now are not anything like he has ever seen. He is at one of the camps daily all summer and works with the teenagers and is real hands on. So with that I want to encourage all of us to keep up the Good Fight and know hopefully we will hear "Well, done my good and faithful servant!"

I hope you all have a great 4 of July!

02/07/08 11:46 AM #247

Tricia Orlicek (Brown)

Ashley- I am so glad to hear you say that about our kids. Amy and I talk about this on a daily basis. I am so blessed to have her as a friend to this day because we do feel alone in the fight alot of times. I am telling you I have been so close to having my satellite service turned off because of the things that are on TV especially cartoons. Darren and I said we would even be better off. My daughter is 13 now and the music that her friends are allowed to listen to is so disgusting. I listened to one the other day and could not believe what I heard. I went on line and printed off the lyrics for her to see for herself. She could not believe it either. These are songs that are being played at our school functions. UGH!!!!! Pray for your kids daily and the spouses they will marry! I love Dr. James Dobson. I am getting ready to read Bringing Up Boys. Thanks for the encouragement this morning. We have to keep each other accountable! Hey, if you ever want a good bible study to do you need to check out the study on Daniel by Beth Moore. OMG! That study will set your soul on fire. Amy and I did it with a small group of women and I was so blessed by it that I wanted my church ladies to see it so I lead it for them. What an adventure! Man that is the best thing I have ever done! We have know idea what goes on around us!

Beth-OMG! I thought you were saying Dave Ramsey was dead too! Yes I don't always follow his steps, but his book sure helped me get on track with our finances years ago! I will say that I kept my resolve when buying a car back in November. Darren and I both drove big vehicles. Our gas bill alone last year was as much as our car payments. I cannot imagine what it would be this year if we had not humbled ourselves and sold them both. We went from new cars (Yukon XL and crew cab GMC) to a 2001 Highlander and a 2001 Honda CRV that we have nicknamed "the flea". Can you just see my big ol husband in that car? He does get embarrased sometimes when he has to go to someone's house to sale insurance. But we are laughing all the way to the gas pump!!

02/07/08 02:19 PM #248

Beth Carter (Dawson)

I am so sorry I scared y'all about Dave Ramsey. I guess that was a little harsh!! I was trying to be funny about the fact that we both bought 2 cars that I'm sure Dave would have told us not to do....but we had to get something with better gas mileage. So, really we did make the best decision. I drove a Yukon XL as well Tricia (I reffered to it earlier as a Suburban but technically it was a yukon). Anyway, we have seen a difference.

Ashley you KNOW how much I love my bible study here in Memphis. I dream about being able to bring it to Stuttgart somehow. Seriously, I really dream about it. Tricia, you may just be my vehicle to getting it available there. It is a study for Moms by Jean Stockdale. She takes a different book of the bible each time and applies to our practical everyday life as a mom. It is wonderful, encouraging...life changing. She is an up and coming Beth Moore I feel like. Her stuff is just getting published (even though Lifeway turned her down) her stuff is in Barnes and Noble. If you ever see it...get it. It is so good for Moms who feel so isolated raising up kids for Christ and trying to instill morals and values.

Ok. I've got to get to work...we leave Saturday for the beach and I have so much laundry to do. I"ll check in later.

Hey Everyone!!! I've been busy trying to get my house back in order from being gone a week. Cache & I went to Orange Beach. We went w/ Ranae & Scott and the boys. Samantha couldn't go with me b/c she wanted to go to DBS convention. She go voted in as Vice-President. One day she will look back and say: Why did I go there instead of the beach with my mom and brother!!! haha It was nice to just have Cache. Cache & I went to the waterpark, and the to Adventure Island and played Laser tag!! That was the longest 7 minutes of tag. I didn't listen to the instructions all the way so I literally ran for 7 minutes in the dark with neon orange and green lights around me. When we went back the next night I paid attention to the game rules and did alot better. LOL!! I've enjoyed reading everyones posts. I promise I will get on and talk with everyone. Having a 16 year old daughter and trying to keep up with~ WHERE ARE YOU GOING?, WHO IS GOING TO BE WITH YOU?, ETC.. All the questions we hated when are parents asked us. She does tell me all, because she won't get to leave if I don't have the facts!! haha I would have died if my mom would have done that with me. These days the kids are so different than us. I told Scott about it the other day. Here is an example: Our kids ask us if they can go to parties. Where we just went. Also they post all the pictures on Facebook from the parties where we tried to hide stuff. As long as they have added us a friends we can look at all the pictures and they are BUSTED!!! haha Need to go ~ have to finish monogramming a towel for a baseball team. Talk to ya'll later tonight.
Hannah

Beth-I am going to LR tomorrow so I will try to stop by the book store and check it out. Thanks for the info.

Carolyn Tanksley (Wall)

Have any of you check out the class of 88 site lately? They have posted pics of their reunion shirt. That is a very cool idea. Lauren do you think we could work on something like that? Maybe Beth could help with the design? =)

03/07/08 09:11 AM #252

Lauren Hartz (Clark)

Carolyn- I found this site and have saved it. I was just holding off on any definite plans like that until closer to the reunion. My idea with this web site was to try and find people in plenty of time and not wait until the last minute. From the survey- it looks like the majority of people are wanting Homecoming for the reunion. So we have over a year to get this all worked out. The fact that I even know about this site tells you I was thinking the same thing, but then decided not to do anything about it. The site is fun- if you come up with something you really like... PLEASE SAVE IT!
