This post is being made on behalf of Tamra Vallejos by David Graves, System Administrator.

My father, Robert Vallejos, was born in Julesburg, Colorado, to Emilio and Sadie, one of nine children. The family moved to Sunnyvale, CA, during the 1950’s, and he graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 196[2]. It was during this time he made several friends who he was still in contact with up until this day. Their lasting friendships were instrumental in so many of the memories he held close to his heart. I am grateful for the loyalty and support they have always provided to him. My father was also a decorated Veteran who served a tour of duty in Vietnam, with combat missions in Cù Chi for the Army’s 25th Infantry Division. He remained a lifelong supporter of Veteran causes, and I am extremely proud of his service. For those who knew him well, he was a very hard working man who had a decorated career in aerospace at the Lockheed, Northrop, and McDonnell Douglas corporations. As a successful Security Manager, he was awarded the highest security-level civilian clearance for the duration of his career. His notable projects include the first payload mission of the Space Shuttle Columbia, and the introduction of the Stealth B12 Bomber. Following his retirement, he spent the past decade as an armed Security Officer at the Hoover Dam, which he enjoyed immensely. His boss tells me he often gave his shifts to those who needed extra, and volunteered to work holidays for those with families. He was a “dam” good employee for them, and I am grateful for the outpouring of support I have received from his Hoover Dam coworkers and friends. My father married my mother, Betty, in 1970, in Santa Cruz, CA. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage and loved each other unconditionally. My father missed his soulmate tremendously following her passing in 2011. Their love will now live on forever. A funny, intelligent, and dedicated man, my father was known for his consistent work ethic and his strength. A true Vallejos. If you know, you know. He was a loyal friend and had an incredibly huge amount of love for his family. He also loved his little dogs, Benny and Lucky, with all his heart. They already miss him so much. Words cannot express the gratitude and love that I have for my father. His loss is devastating, and I will now face the rest of my life without the parents who defined my world. The only consolation I have is that he lived his life on his own terms up until the end, and he will now be reunited with my mother forever. Robert Vallejos 1943-2022

I am deeply saddened of his passing.  i was hopping to have seen him at our 60th re-union and was so looking foreward to have seen him,. he was always there for so many of us during our high school years for he was a good friend He will be missed by many of us.  We had a good time at our 50th and talked about looking foreward to our 60t. But life is so short and we don't know what tomorrow will bring. .
